Miley Cyrus Reveals Secrets Behind Each Song in Her New Album ‘Something Beautiful’

Miley Cyrus is gearing up to release her most ambitious project yet, a visual album titled “Something Beautiful,” slated to hit the airwaves on May 30, 2025. Through a recently launched “Behind the Track” promotional feature, Cyrus offers fans an intimate peek into the creative process behind each song, shedding light on the inspirations, collaborations, and thematic depth that define this bold new chapter in her career.

The artist describes “Something Beautiful,” as “hypnotizing and glamorous.” It promises to blend music and visuals into a captivating, immersive experience.

Drawing significant inspiration from Pink Floyd’s iconic visual album ”The Wall, Cyrus has reimagined the concept with her flair, stating,

“My idea was making The Wall, but with a better wardrobe and more glamorous and filled with pop culture.”

Marketed as a “one of a kind pop opera” and a “unique visual experience fueled by fantasy,” Something Beautiful features 13 original tracks, each accompanied by high-production visuals. Executive produced by Cyrus alongside Shawn Everett—known for his work with Kacey Musgraves and Alabama Shakes—the album boasts cinematography by Benoît Debie, hinting at its artistic sophistication.

For fans eager to own a piece of this creative endeavor, Something Beautiful is available for preorder in multiple formats, including signed vinyl, limited-edition vinyl, and two special box sets with collectible items.

In her “Behind the Track” commentary, Cyrus emphasizes the pivotal role of her boyfriend, Maxx Morando, a member of the band Liily, in shaping the album.

“I’ve always worked with the people that I love. And Maxx just inspires me so much,”

    She told Harper’s Bazaar.

Their personal and professional connection infuses the project with emotional depth. Morando is credited as a producer on several tracks, including the opener, “Prelude.”

Cyrus has also enlisted a stellar lineup of collaborators. The title track, “Something Beautiful,” was co-produced with Panos Cosmatos, Nick Spicer, Nate Bolotin, and Aram Tertzakian, while “Prelude” features contributions from Shawn Everett, Michael Pollack, Jonathan Rado, and Morando. This diverse team suggests a rich tapestry of influences, blending psychedelic and pop elements into a unique sonic landscape.

Two singles from Something Beautiful have already been unveiled, offering fans a taste of its conceptual richness.

Released on March 31, 2025, “Prelude” is the album’s philosophical introduction. A spoken-word piece backed by an evolving electronic instrumental meditates on beauty’s fleeting nature. Cyrus delivers poignant lines like,

“Like when holding a fistful of ashes, your hands can’t save the things that have already been dissolved into air,”

    before concluding with,

“But the beauty one finds alone is a prayer that longs to be shared.”

The accompanying visuals feature artistic shots of flowers and Cyrus in an archival 1997 Thierry Mugler couture piece—the same crystal headpiece gracing the album cover—reinforcing themes of artistry and connection.

The title track, released alongside “Prelude,” begins with a familiar pop structure akin to Cyrus’s hit “Flowers” before pivoting into a “psych-pop chorus.” Lyrically, it explores the transformative power of love, with verses like,

“Tell me somethin’ I can hold on to, you’re who I belong to / I drown in devotion as deep as the ocean.”

While only two tracks have been revealed, Something Beautiful will comprise 13 songs, including “Prelude” (Track 1), “Something Beautiful” (Track 2), and “End of the World” (Track 3). The remaining ten tracks, listed without titles in promotional materials, are expected to be unveiled gradually leading up to the release date.

The album’s production aesthetic merges psychedelic influences with pop sensibilities, echoing Cyrus’s nod to Pink Floyd while retaining her distinctive vocal identity. As one Reddit commenter speculated, it could be “a mature progression of Miley Cyrus & Her Dead Petz,” noting that “her voice suits the psychedelic sound.”
