Mark Zuckerberg Believes Meta’s Llama 4 Will Dominate AI in 2025 with a 2GW+ Data Center

The era of quantum leaps in AI is just around the corner, and Mark Zuckerberg has shown off some of the biggest plans of the company. Setting the stage for rewriting the future of AI technology and its integration into people’s lives, Meta is getting ready for numerous new developments in 2025.

Big and bold announcements by Zuckerberg just raise a storm in the tech world, and Meta seems to be pushing towards making AI boundless. The intent of the business is pretty unmistakable-to drive the AI revolution to more than a billion people before the close of 2025. At the centre of that vision sits the long-awaited Llama 4 AI model, which Zuckerberg promises will change everything.

And when it does, Meta’s Llama 4 will be among the most powerful AI models yet. Slated to be released in early 2025, Llama 4 is expected to outclass its predecessors on key metrics such as reason, adaptability, and performance. According to Zuckerberg, this new cutting-edge model will enable Meta AI to go further in fulfilling its vision of serving more than a billion people by building seamlessly into the lives of millions around the world.

Llama 4 will be smarter but also much more adaptive to the needs of users and important parts of daily life for many people,” said Zuckerberg in the announcement. The new AI model will unleash new ways users interact with technology and bring us another step closer to living in a world where AI truly dominates.

To feed these more sophisticated AI capabilities, Meta is not stinting on large infrastructure investments. One of the most ambitious projects now under development is a 2GW, 4-million-square-foot data center in Richland Parish, Louisiana-one of the largest data centers in the world.

By the end of 2025, Meta wants to bring 1 GW of compute power online, powered by more than 1.3 million GPUs. But this is not a data center-this is the engine running for the future of Meta in AI. With this powerhouse in space, Meta wants to ensure.MODEL Llama 4, among other AI systems, has the computation muscles to perform their ambitious promises.

He alluded to how this data center happens to be a key enabler in the future of the company: “This center will help us provide the scale and power needed to run next-generation AI models, like Llama 4, and enable Meta AI to serve a truly global audience.”

In addition to the data center project, Meta has invested around $60-65 billion in capital expenditure, especially in data centers, servers, and other AI infrastructures. This is all part of an ambitious effort by the company to keep itself at the very forefront of the latest AI developments and thus retain its position of industry leadership.

That’s a level of investment that cements Meta as one of the leaders in the AI race, rivaling other technology giants. Just last week, for instance, OpenAI, SoftBank, and Oracle announced a $500 billion joint venture to build giant AI data centers. But Zuckerberg argues Meta’s strategy-to build infrastructure and integrate AI into people’s lives-will distinguish the company.

But that sewed vision for AI at Meta goes even beyond powerful models: according to Zuckerberg, some time well into the future, it would be unimaginable to think of life without Meta AI. Situated for more than a billion people by 2025, Meta AI, the company’s virtual assistant, will be at the heart of how people get lots of things done from personal productivity to entertainment.

But this will be about building not just smarter AI but much more available and useful to people anywhere. “We are creating AI that’s not only powerful but deeply integrated into the substance of people’s lives to make dealing with everyday seamless and easy,” added Zuckerberg.

But as Meta escalates its work in AI, it faces an increasingly steep set of rivals. A $500 billion joint venture from OpenAI, SoftBank, and Oracle is one of the greatest challenges the AI efforts of Meta are likely to encounter. However, the way Meta has focused on AI infrastructure and integration gives it a competitive edge.

Zuckerberg leaves little doubt about his confidence in the Meta AI vision: “We believe that focusing on infrastructure and the ability to build AI serving real people will help us keep leading in this space,” he said.
