Just Released: NBA Youngboy Heads Back to Utah’s Grave Digger Mountain After Phoenix Halfway House

NBA YoungBoy was prematurely released from an Arizona halfway house in Phoenix on April 10, 2025. Gaulden was serving his time for firearm charges and charges of fraud using prescriptions, and his official release date was scheduled for April 26. His unexpected release is already generating chatter and news headlines.

And within days of stepping out of jail, the Baton Rouge native has returned to a site that has become synonymous in his life for isolation as well as creativity: Grave Digger Mountain, his nickname for his lavish mansion in Millcreek, Utah.

The legal path of NBA YoungBoy has been far from straightforward. It started out in 2021 when he was arrested in Baton Rouge on federal gun charges. Rather than going to jail in an ordinary facility, Gaulden was sent home, placed under house arrest in Utah—a unusual venue for what became an unusual and contemplative episode in his life.

There, in those secluded hills near Salt Lake City, he resided in an 8,800-square-foot modern mansion replete with panoramic views, an airy open design, and even an elevator. The residence, which includes an equally commodious five garages, became not just a home—it became an emblem. YoungBoy dubbed it “Grave Digger Mountain,” one which quickly became synonymous in fans’ minds for confinement and inspiration.

During his time in house arrest, he focused his energy on music, releasing an album called Compliments of Grave Digger Mountain. The album gave listeners insight into his mindset while in isolation, and the mansion became iconic in his story.

But in April 2024, events again took another turn. Under house arrest still, YoungBoy was arrested again, this time accused of possession of a controlled substance and a deadly weapon. He had not yet been tried for the Baton Rouge offense, one which would see him sentenced to 23 months in jail in December 2024.

Prior to that, he had already attempted to break free from the Utah mansion, putting it on sale for an astonishing $5.5 million. They all thought his Utah days were over.

But recent social media reports tell another story. One widely shared photo has YoungBoy standing in the snow, holding an infant. Behind him, the familiar view of his former Utah hangouts strongly suggests that he’s back at Grave Digger Mountain. The caption resonated with fans—some viewing it as an intimate, possibly healing scene, others wondering whether it represents a reboot or a reoccurrence of older problems.

When news of his release broke, platforms such as X saw reactions pour in. “Welcome home YoungBoy!” one supporter tweeted. Others were not so positive: “Hope this time he does not get in trouble,” one of the many apprehensive statements read. The rapper is still a divisive figure—loved by millions for his passionate, emotive lyrics, yet frequently denounced for his chaotic life.

There is already speculation surrounding new tunes, particularly with the rapper returning to such an iconic spot. His last sojourn at Grave Digger Mountain influenced one of his fullest introspective works—so perhaps another installment is in the works? His camp has yet to make any announcements about new releases, yet with his track record of releasing tunes so fast and out of nowhere, anything is possible.
