On August 4-5, 2025, Jeezy (Jay Wayne Jenkins) almost bypassed his Baltimore show, a major date on the TM:101 Live Tour, marking 20 years of his seminal album Let’s Get It: Thug Motivation 101. But by virtue of a single-minded Uber driver and a last-minute marathon drive, however, the Snowman arrived just in time and with a memorable anecdote to share.
The saga started in Georgia, where Jeezy awoke to word no traveling artist ever wants to hear: all flights to Washington, DC and Baltimore were cancelled due to severe weather.
“My team told me that my driver was on his way to pick me up, so we could drive to Baltimore,”
Jeezy later recounted on social media.
“Two hours into our drive, we hit an object on the highway, puncturing the gas tank and causing fuel to leak everywhere.”
Stranded at a small gas station in South Carolina, the crew scrambled. A private jet? Too risky, given the ongoing storms. Time was running out.

Next move: Uber. The team called a ride to take them to the nearest airport rental car desk. When the driver arrived, bags were loaded, and they were off. But eight minutes into the ride, Jeezy had a bold idea.
“I turned to him and said, ‘Hey, we need to go to Baltimore,’”
Jeezy recalled.
“I asked how much he’d charge to take us there… he replied, ‘Let me think about it.’ I assured him that whatever it was, he’d have it. Like a real one, he didn’t hesitate and just kept driving.”
That driver Tanner, whose full name hasn’t been disclosed became an overnight hero. The pair journeyed across multiple states, covering nearly 600 miles in just under 10 hours. They pulled into Baltimore just ten minutes before showtime.
The concert at Lyric Baltimore went on as planned. Jeezy took the stage to a roaring crowd, many of whom had no idea of the chaotic odyssey that had unfolded behind the scenes.
After the show, Jeezy gave Tanner the recognition he deserved: a signature “Snowman” tee, VIP access to the show, and a heartfelt post on social media.
