Grammy Winner The-Dream Faces Lawsuit: Accused of Rape, Sex Trafficking & Battery

The-Dream, whose real name is Terius Gesteelde-Diamant, is an eight-time Grammy Award-winning music producer and songwriter behind the biggest names in music today: Beyoncé, Rihanna, and Usher. In a grievance newly filed with the U.S. District Court in Los Angeles, he is accused of rape, sex trafficking, and sexual battery.

The accusations came from one protégée of The Dream, a former one, though: Channii Monroe, also known as Chanaaz Mangroe.

Mangroe claims in the lawsuit that The Dream gave her the impression that he would help her career and that she was lured into a violent relationship is the matter. She claims Gesteelde-Diamant made her have sexual relations more than once, overconsumed liquor, battered and hit her, and threatened to release some video of “an intimate experience.”

“What Dream did to me made it impossible to live the life I imagined for myself and to pursue my dreams to be a singer and songwriter,”

Mangroe said in a statement to The New York Times.

“Today, my silence has been deafening to the point where I’ve had too many sleepless nights on my journey to speak out about my truth. I hope that doing so will also help others and prevent future horrific abuse.”.

In response to these allegations, a representative for The-Dream stated,

“These claims are untrue and defamatory. I oppose all forms of harassment and have always strived to help people realize their career goals. As someone committed to making a positive impact on my fellow artists and the world at large, I am deeply offended and saddened by these accusations”.

The Dream is known for being very close to Beyoncé; he has worked on every one of her albums since 2008. He returns today with the new song “Stream (V7 Demo Archive 9.20),” which he’s given as a gift to his fans. He’s also assisted in writing smashes like Beyoncé’s “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It),” Rihanna’s “Umbrella,” Justin Bieber’s “Baby,” and Mariah Carey’s “Obsessed,” to name just a few.
