Florida rapper JDot Breezy-who was born Jacory Rivers-finds himself amid a highly publicized murder investigation, joined by another Jacksonville-based rapper named Foolio, born Charles Andrew Jones II. In a trial where Breezy was considered an accused murderer, prosecutors came out to indicate evidence pointing to his high involvement in the killing plot.
During a recent court hearing, prosecutors unveiled Cash App records, which they said linked JDot Breezy to Isaiah Chance, one of the men charged in Foolio’s murder. According to the revealed evidence, Breezy allegedly sent $390 to Chance just hours before Foolio was shot and killed in the parking lot of a Tampa hotel on June 23, 2024.
Court documents detail that the transaction occurred at 1:45 AM on June 22, 2024. Prosecutors say that Chance, shortly thereafter, used $361.16 to make an Airbnb reservation; that, too, prosecutors now say was in preparation for the ambush. By the time Foolio, a 26-year-old emerging rap star out of Jacksonville, stepped into the parking lot the next day, the deadly plan was already unfolding.
The revelations first surfaced via courtroom footage shared by Raphouse TV that went viral on social media. While the purpose of the payment is unknown, some have questioned if it has something to do with JDot Breezy’s involvement.
Authorities have not disclosed how they traced the payment but confirmed it as a critical lead in the ongoing investigation into Foolio’s murder, which they suspect was gang-related. Transactions on platforms like Cash App are often monitored for suspicious activity, and this payment may have flagged investigators’ attention early on.
Foolio’s death sent shockwaves over his fans and the rap world in general. The birthday boy, who was to turn 26, was attacked in a hotel parking lot in Tampa. Surveillance footage captured a well-coordinated attack with several attackers armed with semi-automatic weapons. The attackers fired over 30 shots into Foolio’s automobile, killing him on the spot and wounding three others.
Five individuals have been charged in connection with Foolio’s murder, including Isaiah Chance, Alicia Andrews, and Sean Gathright. Andrews is accused of helping orchestrate the attack, while Gathright is alleged to have been one of the shooters. One suspect remained at large for months before being apprehended earlier this year, and authorities are still working to identify others involved.
