The case that captured America’s attention since her disappearance, the Gabby Petito case, has shocking new information regarding the fiancé of the 22-year-old travel blogger. After a month-long search, FBI Denver has released a tweet Thursday Oct. 21, regarding the remains that were found the day before on Oct. 20, and were in fact the missing young man.

What Happened To Gabby Petito?
Prior to the death of Petito’s fiancé, the 22-year-old woman had the world trying to look for her due to reports of missing by her family early September. Her disappearance occurred after she went on a trip with Laundrie. She had been reported missing on Sept. 11, 10 days after the young man had returned home without her on Sept. 1.
Over a week later, on Sept. 19, the FBI in Denver, law enforcement, and the National Park announced that they found a body that is consistent with the description of the social media influencer. Later officials positively identified Petito’s remains. They found them in Spread Creek Dispersed Camping Area in Wyoming Bridger-Teton National Forest. The FBI also confirming the manner of death was homicide. The case of death is under investigation.
Laundrie’s Family Speaks Up
After the return of the young man on Sept. 1, Laundrie vanished on a hike in the Carlton Reserve. Police issued an arrest warrant due to authorities considering him as a person of interest.
“The FBI and our partners are committed to holding anyone responsible for or involved in Ms. Petito’s death accountable. Brian Laundrie is a person of interest, according to FBI Denver Special Agent Michael Schneider.
Although the fiancé was an unofficial person of interest, the North Police Department confirmed, he is not wanted for a crime. Now releasing earlier Thursday, Oct. 21, that the remains found were “skeletal” according to NBC News. Alongside were personal items such as notebooks and a backpack. The evidence found was underwater and supposedly only found because surrounding water had receded.
Parents Led Authorities
Laundrie’s parents helped led authorities to Myakkahatchee Creek Environmental Park, according to attorney for the Laundrie family, Steven Bertolino. The parents wanted to search the park when it reopened and once telling Mr. Bertolino, the attorney felt he needed to notify law enforcement. Shortly after, FBI confirming it was Laundrie and many are unclear on how the parents knew just where he was.
