Watch: Day Day – ‘Proper (Die Young Remix)”

0

Treating this remix as a somewhat warm up to his debut release coming soon, this young artist shows early signs of talent and prosperity.

Day Day engrains into each track he lays down not only the positive experiences he’s run into throughout his life but also the negative. He takes the struggles and grittiness of life and molds it into greatness, his music.

Additionally, the cultural fusions of Caribbean and African in his community have a huge influence on his tracks sonically, all in all giving him an authentic, relatable yet fresh take on life in urban London.

The Late Show: Showcasing Young and Untapped Potential

Typically, when underground rap scenes are discussed, cities like New York City and Chicago are the focus of the dialogue. However, Philadelphia is a city that deserves the same recognition. Philly has some of the most creative rappers in the country. “The Late Show” that Hypefresh Magazine covered proves that.

Hosted by Michael Humphrey, “The Late Show” premiered at Bourbon and Branch in the Northern Liberties section of the city. The turnout was pretty good, with artists being their friends and managers. Everyone congregated either around the bar or on the dance floor, as they talked and got to know each other. It made the show as much of a social event as a music concert, which got rid of any tension in the room and brought a relaxed vibe.

Showcasing Young and Untapped Potential-1

The performances got started once all the artists were ready. There was not a bad performance throughout the show. Every artist knew how to interact with the crowd and keep them engaged while they ran through their set. Not only that, but their music was actually good.

Showcasing Young and Untapped Potential-2

There are a few performances that stood out amongst the other ones. One of them was by Dolce Dev. Dev ran through a few of his better-known songs, that the crowd loved. On stage, he made every part of his performance entertaining. His energy was infectious as it spread the crowd and caused them to move along. Dev kept the crowd pumped up throughout his time on stage and left them wanting more.

Showcasing Young and Untapped Potential-3

The next performance deserves to be highlighted was by Cesar and Ren, who make up the group 4VR. The duo performed some of the old tracks as well as one that they had just finished production on that day. Cesar is very extroverted while Ren is an introvert. On stage, their personalities complimented each other, while they moved in sync with each other. Another thing that stood out about them was their music. 4VR performed RNB music, as opposed to the hardcore rap of the other performance, with a lot of influence by early 2000’s soul music. It was refreshing to hear some light melodies, after listening to the bars of the previous performers.

If you enjoyed this recap of “The Late Show” be sure to keep following Hypefresh, as we will be covering more shows like this. “The Late Show” will be coming back soon and for more info on it, follow Michael Humphrey on Instagram.

Hypefresh Tips On How To Write Song Lyrics

1

Every artist has their own unique process for coming up with their song lyrics. However, none of them are as simple as stringing some words that sound nice together. Writing song lyrics is more complicated than that. An artist has the responsibility to convey a message that’s understandable to their audience. The way that they go about it is up to them. Though they have to make themselves stand out, in a good way, if they want to last. Luckily, for any artist reading this article, Hypefresh has some insight into how they can do accomplish this. Here are some tips for crafting song lyrics.
Write Song Lyrics-1

  1. Write the song to fit a beat

Unless the song that your lyrics is meant for is an acapella, it’s like going to have a beat. The rhythm of a song is just as important as the lyrics. It sets both the pace and the tone of the music. That’s why you should only start writing a song after you have a beat. This might be difficult if you’re working with an unreliable producer, however, it will pay off.

Let’s say that a song is written before there is a beat. The song could be the greatest lyrical masterpiece of this decade. However, it does not have a rhythm to give it direction. Without a beat in mind, the song is likely to have pacing and flow issues. The words might be good, but how they’re said could be choppy and come across as aimless. A beat can fix that problem by giving the writer a template for the pace and tone of the song.
Write Song Lyrics-2

  1. Don’t be afraid to experiment

Lines like “Raw I’ma give it to ya, with no trivia, Raw like cocaine straight from Bolivia, My hip hop will rock and shock the nation Like the Emancipation Proclamation” didn’t come from writers who wrote their lyrics with extreme caution. Rather, they came when writers got creative and tried new things with their lyrics. When coming up with your music, don’t be afraid to get outside of your comfort zone and try something you have not tried before. At worst, you write something that you don’t like and never show it to anyone. At best, you could write something brilliant and witty. Once you experiment with your style, there is no limit to what you could come up with.

  1. Freewriting constantly

Creativity is less like riding bike and more like a muscle. If you do not use it constantly use it, it will get dull. Freewriting is a great way to keep your writing skills sharp. No matter where you are, or what you’re using to write, you can do it. Just come up with whatever is on your mind. It does not matter if its good or not. It does not need to need to be. Freewriting is necessary for keeping your skills and ideas fresh.

Follow these tips and you’ll see improvement with your writing. For information regarding on how to write a song utilize the link here: Tips on how to write a song

Moose Cheese Goes for $300 a Pound

0

For dairy lovers and the lactose intolerant, here’s another option to love or give you the bubble guts. Creamy moose cheese goes for $300 a pop–it’s one of the most expensive cheeses on earth behind donkey cheese.

The price comes from moose milking being a risky business. In order to make this stuff, milkers have the slather themselves with moose milk in order to get the moose’s utters going. Humans have to trick female moose into being their babies and it starts to get wild when one human is the moose baby of multiple mothers.

Mothers get pretty aggressive over their children. It gets tricky when a milker “moose baby” is standing between two of its “mothers.” A Worldstar worthy video could pop off at any moment.

We understand why someone wouldn’t want less than $300 a pound for all that.

Canada Becomes The Second Nation To Legalize Marijuana

Today is a good day for the smokers of Canada. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has finally delivered on one of his major campaign promises from a few years ago. Canada today creates history as it becomes one of two nations that has a nationwide legalization of marijuana, with the other one being Uruguay.  At midnight, hundreds of people marched down to St. Johns, a well-known marijuana producer in the country, to make their first legal sales of weed.

Canada becomes the second-1

Photos by National Post

Ian Power, one of the first buyers of legal weed in Canada remarked: “I’m having a plaque made with the date and time and everything. This is never actually going to be smoked. I’m going to keep it forever.”

Canada becomes the second-2

Photos by Rolling Stone
Weed can now be bought over the counter, like at a pack of gum, through the country, from the government and private stores. It can be bought online throughout Canada. Adults are also able to grow at least four weed plants. Weed related products like edibles and extracts are still not available for legal usage but there are plans to change that, later this year.

With the legalization of weed in Canada, there are now new restrictions around it. You must be at least a legal adult to buy weed. 30 grams is the legal limit which a person can carry. You also cannot travel out of the country with the substance. These restrictions may be vary depending on which district you’re in.

Weed offenders who were caught with 30 grams or less on them are expected to be pardoned. The only offenders who will not have their records clean are the ones who were charged with intent to sell.

The legalization of marijuana is expected to create a billion dollar industry in Canada, with more growth coming as the market expands.

Pusha T Spills All The Tea In An Interview With Joe Buddon

0

Pusha T is not quite done with Drake yet.

In response to Drake’s recent sit down with Lebron James where he called out Kanye West, Pusha had his own interview with Joe Budden. There have been rumors that the information about Drake’s child, that Pusha used for “the story of Adidon”, came from Kanye. Pusha finally decided to set the record straight. He revealed that the information did not come from Kanye at all, but a woman who was involved with Drake’s producer Noah “40” Shebib.

Pusha states: “The information came from 40,” started Push. “It didn’t come from Kanye, at all. 40 is sleeping with a woman, who begins to… he talks to her daily. Five, six hours a day… And ultimately speaks about how he’s disgruntled about certain things, notoriety and things involving Drake and his career, and so on and so forth. With that also came the fact that Drake has a child. With that also came the trip that everybody took to go see the child, and bring him gifts, and all this information. She divulged this information. That’s where it came from.”

Pusha goes onto talk about how he never disclosed where he got information before because he “saw power in silence” and wanted to be petty.  He says that the only reason that he’s speaking on it now is that Drake was so infuriated by the MS lyric in “the story of Adidon”.

“They did the backlight and they put the spotlight on his face, ‘When you said my friend,’ but your friend is the reason why. That’s how it came about. That narrative’s gotta die. Listen, it needs to die. It’s done. That narrative is done.”>

Pusha finishes off the interview talking about how Drake speaking up on the situation months later is really just a win for him and “pillow talking kills everyone.” This makes you understand why Drake has trust issues.
