    BLACK HOLLYWOOD’S RISING STARS

    Hollywood makes way for the next generation of rising stars. The new generation of entertainers bring raw emotion, memorable characters and incredible expectations for what’s to come. With the desire for Black representation at an all time high, Black Hollywood paves a lane for new talent.

    Black Hollywood’s Rising Stars

    Throughout the year’s we’ve seen the makings of young Black actors and actresses grace our screens. The career’s of Raven Symone, Kyla Pratt, Jason Weaver and KeKe Palmer show the reward of success when given proper support. As we move along through the years, the torch is passed to new rising talent. These five Black entertainers are the new Black Hollywood elite.

    Caleb McLaoughlin (21)

    Caleb McLaughlin has become an international star all before the age of 18. The Stranger Things star got his breakout role in the hit Netflix series in 2016. During its first season Caleb was only 13 years old, landing a role of a lifetime. A native of Carmel, New York, his journey in acting started on Broadway. Caleb played a young Simba in the classic hit Lion King in 2012.

    Alex Hibbert (17)

    Alex Hibbert is a young actor that understands his characters inside and out. Although Hibbert is young, he’s already performed in multiple hard hitting roles. Starring in the Academy award-winning film Moonlight, Alex shows dedication in this breakout role. He then took on the role of Kevin Williams in the Showtime series The Chi, a character that would confirm his Hollywood status.

    Storm Reid (19)

    Storm Reid is a talented and dedicated actress who has the skill to play any role. Raised in Atlanta Georgia, Storm started her career at just 3 years old. She then played in several smaller roles before her big break in Ava DuVernay’s Wrinkle in Time. Storm was the leading lady opposite Oprah Winfrey and Reese Witherspoon. Since then she’s given critical acclaimed performances in Central Park Five, The Invisible Man, Don’t Let Go and Euphoria.

    Myles Truitt (20)

    Myles Truitt is a face you’ll continue to see on the big screen. Another native from Atlanta, Georgia, acting comes natural to the young star. His long and impressive resume includes roles FX’s Atlanta, Queen Sugar, Black Lighting, BET’s The New Edition Story and the viral Stranger Things. With all of these incredible performances, he’s sure to win an Oscar in the near future.

    Shahadi Wright Joseph (17)

    Shahadi Wright Joseph is a name you’ll want to remember. Another young actress full of poise and potential. Although her career has just begun, she’s already been featured in two of the biggest Black films released in the last decade. Shahadi portrayed Young Nala in the 2019 version of The Lion King and also appeared in the film US, which was released in the same year. She then gave a remarkable performance in the controversy show series Them, letting viewers know she is not to be overlooked.

    These young stars are making waves in Black Hollywood, one impactful role at a time.
