Benny Blanco Surprises Selena Gomez with a Bathtub Full of Queso for Valentine’s Day

Valentine’s Day last Valentine’s Day, 2025, proved an uncharacteristic, but absolutely cheesy, twist, courtesy fiancé Benny Blanco, the record producer. Instead of flowers and chocolate, Blanco pulled out the full arsenal, leaving fans both amused, starving, and absolutely amused, by leaving a tub full of queso dip.

On February 14, Blanco went social media-bound to show off his grand romantic gesture. A video posted both on his Instagram account and TikTok had a line of tortilla chips snaking over toward the bathroom, where “I love YOU” had painstakingly been spelled out across the floor. The line broke over an overrunning tub full of silky, amber-colored queso dip. In an attempt to prove it wasn’t an illusion, Blanco pulled out a tortilla chip, dipped it, and took a bite there on camera.

“When your fiancée ain’t so much of a flowers kind of girl,” Blanco continued, pointing out Gomez’s tendency toward personal, custom gifts over flowers.

For those not aware, the tub of queso wasn’t so out of left field. Theirs has always been an affair driven by mutual passion, one being food, Mexican food, that is. In interviews in the past, Gomez has oohed over Blanco’s homemade Taco Bell Mexican Pizzas, while last Valentine’s, Blanco prepared fried pickles with a side of ranch.

This year’s cheesy move raised the bar, illustrating that Blanco knows just how to get his fiancée smiling. “Food gets you there, you know?” an insider close to the couple spilled. “She just loves how considerate and playful he is. Benny keeps it interesting.”

Adding to the romanticism, Blanco also released his Valentine’s video to “Scared of Loving You,” one single from his upcoming collaborative project with Gomez, I Said I Love You First, out on March 21, 2025. Already causing excitement among fans, this emotional track broaches the topic of exposure and deep affection—a perfect backdrop for so grand an act of romanticism.

The couple’s musical collaboration has also been knitted together, uniting them further. Since publicly confirming their affair last December 2023, the two have collaborated intimately over music, finally reaching an engagement last month, December 2024. Blanco proposed to Gomez with an impeccable $250,000 marquise-cut diamond ring, an event Gomez honored by going, “Forever begins now.”

Social media lost it over Blanco’s sweet show of affection. Fans swamped the comments section with admiration, laughter, and an abundance of food-related puns:

The couple’s wholesome, down-to-earth courtship has continued to win hearts, as fans enjoy the sincerity underlying Blanco’s over-the-top, if sloppy, Valentine’s Day anthem.

While undeniably romantic, Blanco’s grand overture raised eyebrows regarding practicalities. Just how many cans of queso does it take, one wonders, to fill one tub? Using calculations, an average tub that holds 100 gallons would require perhaps 120 cans’ worth of nacho cheese sauce, costing an estimated $1,286.40 worth of queso. The clean-up, unfortunately, remains unknown.

Blanco and Gomez’s relationship is one of the greatest romances in Hollywood, not just because of their performances and PDA, but also because of the playful, creative, personal way that they show affection toward one another. Taco Bell dinners, baths full of queso, you name it, Blanco has repeatedly proved that he has some idea of how to sustain the flame that feels personal, fun, and just a little ridiculous. With their marriage just over the horizon, as well as the release of their hotly anticipated album, it seems that 2025 is going to be an especially interesting year for the couple. If this Valentine’s Day announcement is any indication, fans are going to get many more warm and hunger-inspiring peeks at these two sweet lovers in the future.
