Batman is about to make history; he will be the first-ever superhero to get a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The star-studded dedication ceremony will take place on Thursday, September 26, 2024, at 11:30 a.m. PT at 6764 Hollywood Boulevard, right in front of The Hollywood Guinness World Records Museum.
The new star of Batman will sit with those belonging to Adam West, who played the Caped Crusader in the hit series of the 1960s, and Bob Kane, who co-created the iconic super hero. This impressive placement celebrates not only Batman’s enduring legacy but also his significant impact on popular culture over the past 85 years.
Notable figures attending the ceremony from DC Comics include Jim Lee, DC’s President, Publisher, and Chief Creative Officer, and Anne DePies, Senior VP and General Manager. Both Lee and DePies will talk to the experiences one has gathered regarding this character’s monumental contribution to entertainment and culture.
Jim Lee said, “Batman has been an iconic representation of hope, justice, and perseverance for generations. It’s only fitting that we not only commemorate his place in history but mark it upon the Walk of Fame with this star.” Anne DePies added, “More than honoring Batman’s contributions to the cinematic, television, and comic book universes, this distinction acknowledges the impact he has made as one of the most memorable creations in the superhero genre.”
Aside from the unveiling of the star, Batman will be presented with a Guinness World Records title as the first superhero to head to the celebrities’ hall of fame. The award confirms his singular place in Hollywood history and his unrivaled impact on popular media, from TV and film to animation and video games.
And to further sweeten the pot for fans looking to join in on the celebration, Funko Hollywood is hosting the event with a meet-and-greet with Jim Lee and some exclusive Batman memorabilia from the Warner Bros. Archives. This Fan Event will no doubt be a high point in the meeting of fellow fans and some super-rare Batman collectibles.
