Celeste Rivas Cause of Death Revealed: Multiple Penetrating Injuries Confirmed

Newly released autopsy findings in the murder case involving singer D4vd detail the fatal injuries suffered by 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez, whose death has been ruled a homicide by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner.

The report, made public Tuesday (April 22), lists the cause of death as “multiple penetrating injuries caused by object(s).” Investigators previously said Hernandez’s remains were discovered in September 2025 inside the front trunk of an impounded Tesla allegedly connected to the artist, whose legal name is David Burke.

According to the Medical Examiner, there were “2 penetrating wounds of the torso with smooth edges that may represent sharp force injuries.” The report states that one wound, measuring approximately 3/4 inch, was located on the upper abdomen and penetrated the liver. A second wound, approximately 9/16 inch in length, was found on the left chest and penetrated one of the left intercostal spaces, with damage to the adjacent ribs.

The filing also notes that severe decomposition complicated portions of the examination. Authorities said some identifying details could not be determined, though braces and a finger tattoo reading “Shhh…” were used as confirming markers. The report further states portions of the limbs were missing or amputated after death.

Burke was charged in April with first-degree murder, lewd acts with a minor under 14 and mutilation of a corpse. He has pleaded not guilty.

Prosecutors allege Hernandez had been involved in an unlawful sexual relationship with Burke beginning when she was 13 and claim he killed her after she threatened to expose the relationship, saying it posed a risk to his career. Those allegations have not been proven in court.

Court records estimate Hernandez died on or about April 23, 2025, several months before her remains were found. The autopsy report had previously been kept under seal following a request from law enforcement during the investigation.

The case has drawn widespread attention due to Burke’s rising music profile and the disturbing allegations outlined by prosecutors. His defense team has denied wrongdoing and says he intends to fight the charges.

A trial date has not yet been announced.
