A 115-year-old family heirloom wedding ring was miraculously retrieved from the depths of Possum Kingdom Lake in Texas. The remarkable rescue involved a determined professional diver, a devastated ring owner, and an entire baseball team community that rallied to help.
JackO’Lynn Page, a Texas wife and mother, experienced every jewelry owner’s worst nightmare during what should have been a fun family outing. She was visiting the Sandy Beach area of Possum Kingdom Lake with her son’s baseball team over the weekend when she suddenly realized her precious wedding ring had slipped off her finger and disappeared into the water. The ring was no ordinary jewelry—it was a 115-year-old diamond wedding ring dating back to 1910, making it an irreplaceable family heirloom.
“I felt heartbroken,”
Page said, reflecting on the moment she discovered the loss and the deep sentimental value the ring held for her family.
The baseball community sprang into action when Page realized her ring was missing. The search party included 11 baseball boys with goggles, parents, grandparents, and other family members who scoured the shoreline desperately looking for the precious ring. Despite their dedicated efforts, the community search came up empty-handed, leaving Page to face the devastating reality that her treasured heirloom might be lost forever.

The search conditions at Possum Kingdom Lake proved extremely difficult. The man-made lake, created in 1941, covers over 17,000 surface acres with over 300 miles of shoreline. When Prigmore arrived for his initial search attempt, high winds created rough water conditions, making diving nearly impossible. Despite searching a designated 100-foot by 50-foot area for several hours, the challenging weather forced him to abandon the first attempt.
Despite the failed first attempt, he promised Page it would be this tale’s turning point.
“I was getting thrashed by the waves, but I gave my word that I would be back to keep trying,”
Prigmore explained to local media.
True to his word, Prigmore returned to Possum Kingdom Lake on Monday under much calmer conditions. The improved weather allowed him to conduct a more thorough search of the lake bottom. His persistence paid off—by evening, he had successfully located and recovered the precious ring.

“I am so thankful for him! He didn’t give up on it,”
