Will Walker of Banni Peru Under Fire: Philly Brand Owner Seen Escaping Reporters Over Scam Claims

A Philadelphia fashion mogul is under fire as accusations of fraud and deception swirl around his latest ventures. Will Walker, the 29-year-old founder of the trendy clothing brand Banni Peru, was caught on camera sprinting away from reporters outside his initial court hearing, fueling speculation about his involvement in a string of scams targeting event planners. Known for his stylish puffy coats and celebrity endorsements, Walker now faces serious charges that could unravel his fashion empire.

The allegations paint a troubling picture. Event planners claim Walker hired their services for lavish events but failed to pay, allegedly using stolen credit cards and fake checks. One victim, Bobby Morganstein, reported that in summer 2023, Walker ordered 250 chairs for an event, paying a $500 deposit with a credit card that was later flagged as fraudulent. When pressed for the $3,000 balance, Walker reportedly tried 11 different stolen cards, all declined. Later, for a 40th birthday party, he rented drapes worth $4,700, paying with a fake bank check.

Another planner, Tess Riehs, shared a similar story, saying Walker ordered $4,000 worth of roses for a December event, with a $2,300 deposit that turned out to be fraudulent. The remaining balance was paid in cash by a man claiming to be “Tyreek,” an alias linked to Walker’s phone number.

Victims have provided records showing multiple credit card transactions flagged as fraud, tied to various zip codes like 10128 and 10018. One documented charge of $582.61 was captured but later disputed, and contracts were viewed from an IP address traced to Walker’s operations. Three other businesses have also come forward, alleging similar scams, though details remain limited. Riehs has taken to social media to warn others, urging event planners to steer clear of Walker.

Walker, whose brand Banni Peru boasts the motto “Where there’s a will, there’s a way,” launched his company in 2016 with silk-screened T-shirts before gaining fame for high-end coats priced up to $400. His boutique on 52nd Street in West Philly and strong online presence have made Banni Peru a local favorite, endorsed by stars like Cardi B. But these allegations threaten to tarnish his reputation.

In late May 2025, Walker was charged with theft by deception, forgery, and other offenses. He is set to face court again on July 17, 2025. His dramatic dash from reporters only adds to the public’s curiosity about his next move.
