Usher to Perform at 2024 Super Bowl Halftime Show, Marking His Biggest Stage Yet

Usher is set to perform at the Super Bowl halftime show, marking his biggest stage yet. The NFL, Apple Music, and Roc Nation made the announcement on Sunday. Usher will take center stage during the Feb. 11 game at Allegiant Stadium in Paradise, Nevada.

    2024’s Super Bowl Headliner Usher

The performance will last about 30 minutes, like most Super Bowl performances. Usher Raymond IV first appeared at the Super Bowl halftime show in 2011 with the Black Eyed Peas. His performance earned him the nickname “The King of Halftime.”

Since then, he amassed 18 top 10 singles on Billboard’s Hot 100, including nine No. 1s, and won eight Grammy awards, including Best R&B Album for his 2004 LP Confessions. Confessions still remain one of the most legendary albums in R&B history.

He’s also a seasoned live performer with more than 200 shows under his belt. He released two live albums and appeared at many major festivals. His major festival appearances involve Coachella and Lollapalooza.

Usher springboarded into fame after signing to LaFace Records in 1992 by Bryant Reid. Reid is the brother of legendary producer and label co-president (with Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs) L.A. Reid. The teen star was still in high school when he recorded his debut album.

His first project, My Way, which was a commercial and critical success. It spawned three top 10 hits, including the ballads “U Got It Bad” and “My Way.” This won him his first Grammy award for Best Male Vocalist. Many of his fans hope to hear these classics in his Super Bowl performance!

When the album was reissued in 2005, it climbed even higher on the charts, and Usher won his second Grammy for Best R&B Album. The following year, he earned another trophy for the album’s lead single, “I Know That I’m Right.” The track was a big hit on the charts, and a video of Usher performing it on the David Letterman Show went viral.

In addition to the halftime performance, Usher will be releasing his ninth studio album, Coming Home, on Super Bowl Sunday. The LP, his first since 2016’s Hard II Love, will include the summer singles “Good Good” with Summer Walker and 21 Savage.

The NFL, Apple Music, and Roc Nation will oversee this year’s halftime show. It follows Rihanna’s career-spanning set in February that became the most-watched Super Bowl halftime performance ever and revealed that she was pregnant.

The show last featured Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary J. Blige, 50 Cent and Kendrick Lamar. Do you think Usher will be able to top these heavy hitters?
