Travis Barker’s Daughter Alabama, 19, Faces Emergency Hospitalization Over Nicotine Crisis

Alabama Barker, the 19-year-old daughter of Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker, has been at the center of rumors about her health and lifestyle choices. But when a report surfaced that she had been hospitalized due to nicotine withdrawal, it reached a fever pitch. In a world where every whisper is amplified through social media, Alabama took to her Instagram Stories to address the situation head-on.

“I just want to clear the air-I wasn’t hospitalized this month or last month,”

Alabama wrote in an Instagram Story, which has since been deleted, addressing reports that she had been hospitalized due to nicotine withdrawal.

“It happened a while back, and I was there for three hours and then was discharged.”

The story first picked up steam when TMZ, citing a report filed with the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department, reported in a Dec. 30 story that Alabama had been rushed to an LA-area hospital after calling 911 in a case of nicotine poisoning. But Alabama shot down the report, saying in her statement,

“They provided me with a nicotine patch and an inhaler, and that’s all. Let’s please not spread any rumors and let’s focus on moving foward.”

Her measured response underlined the more rarely spoken personal cost that can be exacted by public scrutiny, especially from young adults growing into their lives in full view.

The rumors emerged just days after Alabama celebrated her 19th birthday on Christmas Eve. Earlier in the week, she posted a TikTok video addressing her absence from social media.

“I have not been okay. On my birthday, I didn’t even get to enjoy it because I was so sick,”

she said, blaming the flu for her condition.

The ailing Alabama still shared her extravagant Christmas and birthday gifts, which ranged from designer handbags and jewelry to her father’s almost $8,000 coat. The haul underlined a life of privilege but set a backdrop to the narrative that even those with apparently perfect lives are not immune to health challenges and public scrutiny.

A post from Alabama on TikTok, where she spotlighted her gifts, gave an insight into her life as the daughter of a rock legend. Her tone moved between gratitude and weariness, showing the complexity of balancing private struggles with maintaining a public image.

Among the most memorable gifts included a personalized diamond necklace from her sister, Atiana de la Hoya, and diamond earrings courtesy of her dad, Travis Barker. “My dad being my dad, he has some of the best styles,” Alabama said, adding receiving Cartier Love bracelets courtesy of him is one of their most special traditions.

Her acknowledgment of these material blessings did not outshine her effort to divert attention to the more important aspects of her life, such as her health.

But in an era where celebrity health and lifestyle choices are the fodder of public fascination, it should surprise nobody that Alabama’s statements reflect an attitude shared by many, which has become increasingly amplified on social media.

It further helped her when the family present in her life was supportive. Travis Barker said, “I’m so proud of you and love watching you grow.” That kind of steadfast encouragement from the family, not excluding Kourtney Kardashian, has given Alabama the emotional spine she needed during her recovery.

Her recent single and video Vogue, in which her dad and stepmom, Kourtney Kardashian, make an appearance, shows the growth of this young artist. The song shows the determination to channel her experiences into her craft, blending the personal with the creative.

For Alabama, quitting vaping was more than a health decision; it was a career necessity. Her vocal coaches and other people in the industry told her how nicotine would destroy her vocal cords. So, she listened to them and promised herself to save her voice for a future in music.her voice for a future in music.
