Tiger Woods Crash: Golfer Called Trump Before Police

Bodycam footage just dropped showing Tiger Woods right after his SUV flipped over in Florida on March 27, 2026. He’s standing there next to his overturned black Land Rover on South Beach Road, finishes up a phone call, and casually tells the deputy,

“Yeah, I was just talking to the President.”

The deputy responds,

“Mr. Woods, I’m gonna get you to hang out down here with us, please.”

Tiger just shrugs it off:

“That’s all right. It is what it is.”

The cops later said he seemed pretty apologetic about the whole thing.

It happened around 2 p.m. near his home on a quiet two-lane residential road. Tiger tried to pass a Ford F-150 that was towing a trailer. He crossed the double yellow lines, but the truck slowed down to turn into a driveway. He clipped the trailer, his SUV flipped onto its side, and that was that. Nobody got seriously hurt, but the trailer took about $5,000 in damage.

Woods told the deputies he’d been messing with his phone and adjusting the radio at the time.

The 90-second bodycam clip, released by the Martin County Sheriff’s Office on April 2 after TMZ got hold of it, shows him in a blue polo and cap, looking sweaty and moving kind of slow. His SUV is lying there with the door open before they tow it away. You can clearly hear him say he was just on the phone with the president and that line has obviously blown up online.

They ended up arresting him for DUI involving an unknown substance, property damage, and refusing a chemical test. He blew a 0.00 on the breathalyzer, but they found two white hydrocodone pills in his left pants pocket. When the cops pulled them out, Woods said, “That’s a narco.” He was showing clear signs of impairment sweating a lot, dilated pupils, bloodshot eyes, unsteady on his feet. He failed the field sobriety tests and wouldn’t do a urine test. They cuffed him around 3:12 p.m., he posted $1,150 bond, and was out that same night.

Tiger and Trump have been friends for years. Trump awarded him Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2019, and he has always said good things about him. After the crash, Trump publicly said he was concerned about his friend. People are noting the relationship, but nobody’s really speculating beyond that.

In Florida, DUI isn’t just about alcohol you can get charged for driving impaired on prescription meds too. And when it’s Tiger Woods, the story goes national in about five minutes.

He pleaded not guilty through his lawyer on April 1 and asked for a jury trial. In his own statement, Tiger said he needs to step away from golf right now to focus on his well-being and get real help for recovery. A judge gave him permission to leave the country for inpatient treatment, so he won’t be at the Masters this year. The PGA Tour put out a supportive statement.
