On January 16th, ABC News will debut a new two-hour documentary. “The Last Days of Richard Pryor”, on the iconic career and legacy of Richard Pryor.
From his beginnings of being raised in a brothel to his rise to comedic fame. The new two-hour documentary gives us a never before seen look into the world of the famous late comedian.
According to reports, “The Last Days of Richard Pryor” will explore Pryor’s personal life from beginning to end, detailing his time growing up in a brothel run by his grandmother in Illinois, the relationship with his mother who was a prostitute that battled alcoholism and other dark parts of his past. The feature will also give us a new view on his unapologetic style comedy that “showcased the world of black America through the lens of stand-up comedy.”
In the film, you will hear from the comic’s widow, Jennifer Pryor, as well as a slew of personalities such as Mike Epps, Dave Chapelle, Martin Lawrence, Chris Rock, Jimmie Walker and other notable performers that will make cameos.
Included in the documentary, there will also be never-before-scene clips from an interview Pryor did with Barbara Walters.

Richard Pryor is a legendary figure in the world of comedian and black culture. With that being said, I am excited for this look into the life of an icon. “The Last Days of Richard Pryor” will air on ABC January 16th at 9:00 PM EST.
