    Denver Broncos set to honor Demaryius Thomas Sunday

    The Denver Broncos will honor former wide receiver Demaryius Thomas on Sunday when they face off against the Detroit Lions. The Broncos plan to do a pregame moment of silence as well as a tribute to be played on the stadium’s jumbotron. They will also honor him by wearing the same jersey number 88 decals.

    Thomas was found dead Thursday in Roswell, Georgia. At his home, is where the Police found his deceased body. Many believe the death was from natural causes specifically medical conditions that have yet to be determined. Several teammates said Thomas had seizures regularly after a very severe car accident. Thomas would have turned 34 on Christmas day, he only officially retired from the NFL this past June.

    According to ESPN, the Broncos held a team meeting Friday morning to speak about Thomas’ death. The Broncos currently have ten players who were teammates with Thomas and over 40 coaches, and staff members.

    “Seeing and feeling their reaction, their hurt, just tells me what a special player DT was,” said Broncos coach Vic Fangio. “Special player, the special person, is obvious, by their responses. … The people that knew him and were around him, they’re sad and depressed, down, but … we’re ready to pay tribute to him on Sunday.”

    Broncos’ head coach offers support

    The Broncos head coach Vic Fangio has been supportive of anyone who would need counseling as well as a team chaplain to console anyone who may be having a rough time after the devastating news. Broncos left tackle Garrett Bolles was a first-round draft pick in 2017. He said he still had a message of Thomas welcoming him into the organization.

    “We all love him. We all miss him,” Bolles said. “I know he touched my life. … He left a legacy.”

    Many, devastated by the news around the league. Several notable and respectable players made a post either on Instagram or Twitter in honor of his legacy. He will be missed and may his legacy never stop growing nor shall it be left behind.
