The book was about the lives and works of some of the most famous poets in history, such as Edgar Allan Poe, Sylvia Plath, and Emily Dickinson. She said, “I was fascinated by how these poets were able to create such beautiful and powerful words out of their pain, loneliness, and madness. I wanted to channel some of that energy into my own songs.
