The 2025 NFL Honors ceremony was brimming with star presence, tension, and a little controversy. Evening host Snoop Dogg, a rap legend, did not spare any punches in delivering a zinger about legend coach Bill Belichick and his much younger girlfriend, Jordon Hudson, early in the ceremony.
The 72-year-old former head coach of the Patriots, who has been dating 24-year-old Hudson and whose 48-year age gap has been a source of controversy, could not escape Snoop Dogg, renowned for speaking out and swiping at them.
As host of the ceremony, Snoop wasted no time getting the laughter rolling. In his characteristic casual style, he told the attendees:
“I’ve been a fan of football for a long, long time, I mean, I remember when the Cowboys was any good, I remember when the Chiefs was horrible, and I remember, what was it—Bill Belichick’s girlfriend hadn’t even been born yet.”
The camera then focused on Jordon Hudson, who initially seemed shocked but started laughing. Belichick, whose stoic expression during games is a trademark, chuckled at the humor, proving himself capable of taking a ribbing in stride.
The crowd erupted in laughter. Cameras swung over to Belichick and Hudson, both of whom took a chuckle at it, grinning and laughing.
Belichick, widely regarded as one of the greatest coaches in NFL history, is best known for coaching the New England Patriots, with whom he won six Super Bowls. Nevertheless, a fling with a one-time cheerleader, Jordon Hudson, stole Belichick’s gridiron life in the spotlight for several months. According to sources, Belichick and Hudson started dating in June 2023.
The crowd responded with a combination of shock and laughter. Some fans found the joke funny and wished that Snoop Dogg would host the event annually, but others believed the joke had crossed a line. Social media erupted immediately with polarized views.
One fan posted, “I’m a fan of Bill Belichick, but that’s cute! WTG Snoop!” and one posted, “Snoop’s act is getting old. That one wasn’t even that funny.”
However, it appeared that Hudson herself wasn’t injured. She subsequently took to social media to post about the ordeal, assuring everyone that she and Belichick weren’t bothered by the public criticism. In a previous post, she seemed to taunt about her toughness, saying, “I can’t wait to take punches for you in 2025. Keep swinging, Keyboard Warriors.”
His joke at Belichick’s expense wasn’t a surprise for any Snoop Dogg fan. Snoop Dogg, a rap legend, boasts a long history of roasting big shots, having taken part in roasts for Donald Trump, Ludacris, and Justin Bieber for Comedy Central. Snoop Dogg is renowned for his snappy and quick humor and friendly roasting, most notably with his famous friend, Martha Stewart.
At the NFL Honours, he continued demonstrating that he’s not afraid to break new ground. But with a dash of humor, not everyone agreed with him. Some considered him a little outdated regarding hosting, but others liked him for shaking up the evening.
Belichick and Hudson’s relationship has been discussed since it became public in June 2024. The two reportedly met on a flight in 2021 and built a connection over time. While their nearly five-decade age gap raises eyebrows, the couple seems unbothered by public scrutiny.
Meanwhile, Belichick—arguably the greatest head coach in NFL history—has become controversial for more than a little about his dating life. After a two-decade epic stint with the Patriots, six Super Bowl wins, and a legend in football lore, he recently departed New England and is embarking on a new challenge as North Carolina head coach.
As for the big one, everyone’s eyes will soon be glued to Super Bowl LVIII when defending champion Kansas City Chiefs face off with the Philadelphia Eagles on February 9th. For one night, at least, before when the Lombardi Trophy was hoisted, everyone in the NFL universe couldn’t stop talking about a Hall of Fame head coach, a new girlfriend, and one perfectly timed Snoop Dogg one-liner Love it or Hate it, Snoop guaranteed everyone was discussing king.
