Chadwick Boseman has officially been immortalized on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
On Nov. 20, 2025, the late actor was honored with a posthumous star during an emotional ceremony in Los Angeles, where family, friends, and former co-stars gathered to celebrate his life, legacy, and extraordinary impact on Hollywood and beyond.
Boseman’s widow, Simone Ledward-Boseman, led the tribute, placing a pair of his shoes on the newly unveiled star — a symbolic gesture she said represented his spiritual presence. The moment marked one of the ceremony’s most touching highlights, drawing heartfelt applause from those in attendance.
Simone delivered a moving speech honoring her late husband, who died in August 2020 at age 43 after a private battle with colon cancer.
“Chad, today we celebrate a lifetime of artistry. We acknowledge your talent and dedication and solidify your legacy as a hero and icon,” she said. “You lived with integrity and in truth. You were brilliant as you were beautiful and as brave as you were compassionate. We love you, we miss you, and we thank you.”
She added that Chadwick’s heart was “so expansive that he could offer each person a unique piece of himself.”

The ceremony was attended by several of Boseman’s closest collaborators, including Viola Davis, who worked alongside him in the Oscar-winning Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, director Ryan Coogler, and Black Panther co-stars Michael B. Jordan and Letitia Wright. All appeared visibly moved as they honored the actor who brought King T’Challa to life and helped reshape cultural representation in blockbuster filmmaking.
Boseman’s brothers, Derrick and Kevin Boseman, joined Simone for the star’s official unveiling, accompanied by a framed portrait of the actor that stood near the podium. Together, the family commemorated a legacy that continues to influence audiences around the world.
Throughout his career, Boseman portrayed several iconic figures, including Jackie Robinson in “42,” James Brown in “Get On Up,” and Thurgood Marshall in “Marshall.” His final film, Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, earned him a posthumous Academy Award nomination and widespread acclaim.
Now, his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame stands as a permanent tribute to a performer remembered not only for his transformative roles but also for his grace, courage, and profound humanity.
