Simon Guobadia Regrets Marrying Porsha Williams, Claims He Was Targeted for Financial Gain After Costly Divorce

What was once an idyllic love between Nigeria-American businessman Simon Guobadia and Real Housewives of Atlanta star Porsha Williams turned into reality TV’s most explosive breakup. Their 2022 November wedding lavish, opulent, and blending Nigerian traditions and American glamour the honeymoon was allegedly over for good. Just 14 months later, that dream crumbled. Now, Guobadia is publicly expressing regret, calling the relationship a “$5 million rehab project” and accusing Williams of financial manipulation.

“I absolutely regret marrying her,”

Guobadia told Page Six in June 2025.

“I was targeted for financial reasons, plain and simple.”

Simon Guobadia, 61, is the founder of SIMCOL Petroleum and a multimillionaire entrepreneur. Known for his philanthropic ventures and flashy lifestyle, he rose to wider fame through his relationships on reality TV. Porsha Williams, 43, is a popular reality star and entrepreneur behind beauty brands like Go Naked Hair and Pampered by Porsha.

The two began dating in April 2021 and were engaged within a month. Despite public skepticism over their fast-tracked relationship, they married in November 2022 with back-to-back Nigerian and American ceremonies.

In February 2024, Williams filed for divorce, citing “irreconcilable differences” and concerns over Guobadia’s legal and immigration status. The court finalized the divorce in June 2025. The prenuptial agreement was upheld, granting Williams:

$40,000 per month in alimony for 14 months a total of around $560,000

The right to stay in their $7 million Atlanta mansion for up to 36 months, with Guobadia covering all expenses

50% equity in the property if she chooses to refinance

“This has been one of the most unfair rulings I’ve seen. I’m considering taking this all the way to the Supreme Court,”

Guobadia said in a separate statement to The Shade Room.

Guobadia’s side of the story is blunt: he claims he was emotionally manipulated and financially exploited, especially while still recovering from his previous divorce with Falynn Pina, another RHOA alum.

Meanwhile, Williams maintains the divorce was rooted in trust issues and serious concerns about Guobadia’s immigration status. In early 2025, Guobadia was detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) due to a longstanding visa issue which reportedly included a 1987 fraud conviction and a 1992 deportation. He was deported to Nigeria in June 2025, just days before the divorce was finalized.

Williams has remained relatively quiet since filing, likely due to a cease-and-desist order from Guobadia barring her from publicly discussing their relationship.

The saga has lit up social media, especially on X . U.S. to the UK and Australia are sharply divided. Some users praise Williams for “securing the bag,” while others criticize her for allegedly exploiting Guobadia.

“She had her own money. This narrative that she used him is tired,”

wrote one fan in Canada.

“He was targeted. That man was ICE’d AND broke after this. Wild,”

another user in the UK posted, using the trending tag #FreeSimon.

With flashy headlines, emotional quotes, and social media chaos, the Guobadia-Williams divorce has become a reality TV spectacle only this one’s real. As Guobadia fights his way through appeal courts and sells “FREE SIMON” T-shirts post-deportation, questions linger: Was this a love story hijacked by legal drama, or a calculated move in the high-stakes game of celebrity marriage?
