Kevin O’Leary had a near-death experience.
“Shark Tank” star Kevin O’Leary was involved in a boat crash on a Canadian lake that killed one person and left another seriously injured, he said.
Kevin O’Leary said his wife, Linda, was driving his boat when they crashed into another vessel Saturday night on Lake Joseph in Ontario, TMZ reported.
“Late Saturday night I was a passenger in a boat that had a tragic collision with another craft…”
“…that had no navigation lights on and then fled the scene of the accident,” O’Leary told the outlet. “I am fully cooperating with authorities.”
The two victims were on a larger, 13-person vessel that was returning to a lake cottage around 11:30 p.m. when it allegedly rammed into the businessman’s boat, the Toronto Sun reported.
The 64-year-old US man on the bow of the larger craft was struck in the head and instantly killed by the other boat, according to Page Six.
A 48-year-old female passenger from Markham, Ontario, was also critically injured and rushed to the hospital.
O’Leary said that he is “fully cooperating with authorities” and declined to comment further. He is now talking with the families involved and the ongoing investigation.
There was a dispute over who left the scene first, with a source telling TMZ it was O’Leary’s boat that fled. He disputed that claim, saying it was the other boat that left.
Criminal charges have not yet been announced.
