    Black Panther 2 is in the works, but getting ready for production has been difficult for director Ryan Coogler.

    Coogler recently opened up on Jemele Hill’s Unbothered podcast about how difficult it is working on the sequel without the late Chadwick Boseman. Boseman died last August after a private battle with colon cancer. He was 43.

    “I’m still currently going through it. One important lesson I’ve learned in life is that gaining perspective during challenging times can be tough. This experience has been profound for me. It’s challenging to continue this project without the person who held it all together, like glue.

    Coogler Addresses Moving On Without Boseman

    Chadwick Boseman starred in the blockbuster as the beloved leader King T’Challa of the fictional African nation of Wakanda. Production for the second film will begin this summer and will be released on July 8, 2022.

    “You have a professional life, you’ve got a personal life,” Coogler told Hill. Finding work-life balance is tough when you’re doing what you love. This has been the hardest thing in my professional life so far.

    Boseman won Best Actor in a Drama at the 26th Critics’ Choice Awards for his role in “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom” on Netflix.
