    Despite this initial glimmer of hope, the young football player was swiftly transported to St. Mary’s-Duluth Medical Center, where the ICU staff fought tirelessly to save him.     Reed Ryan was a senior defensive lineman for the UMD Bulldogs. He was an essential player for the team. In the last season, he made eight tackles in nine games. He had seven solo tackles and one assisted tackle. Ryan was very good at football. He made a sack against Northern State on September 9. He also made three tackles at Minot State on October 21. The team was good at defense, and Ryan was a big part of it. They only allowed 293.9 yards per game in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference.

    UMD‘s head football coach, Curt Wiese, expressed profound devastation at Reed Ryan’s passing. Ryan was a great person. Coach Wiese said he had a big smile and was always positive. He also cared about others a lot. Everyone at UMD is sad because Ryan passed away. Forrest Karr, the athletics director, said Ryan made a positive difference in people’s lives.

    Reed Ryan is from Waunakee, Wisconsin. He graduated from Waunakee High School in 2019. He is now studying at the UMD Labovitz School of Business and Economics. He is working hard towards a double major in Marketing and Professional Sales. Reed is a dedicated student and athlete.
