Rapper Takeoff of the Migos, was reportedly shot dead Tuesday morning in Houston. The Georgia native had been attending a private party at a bowling alley, which ended around 1 AM. Shortly thereafter, a dispute broke out. The identity of the victim was later revealed to be Takeoff.
Fellow Migos member, Quavo, was also in attendance at the after-hours get together. Takeoff, born Kirshnik Khari Ball, is Quavo’s nephew. The two had recently released their debut album as Unc and Phew without cousin Offset, Only Built for Infinity Links. It had been released in early October, which made Billboard 200.
Early reviews had already highlighted how the familial bond had specifically brightened up the album. It is obvious the death of his nephew could potentially impact Quavo and his future career negatively. However, the prevalence of gun violence in hip-hop means that Offset and Quavo are in good company when it comes to the friends and family of victims of gun violence. Too many talented rappers are gone too soon.
We here at HypeFresh send our condolences to rapper Takeoff’s family and friends!
Rest in Perfect Power~ Takeoff. Sympathy to your family.
