The Proud Family is officially coming back, Disney made the announcement Thursday.
Fans of the famous Disney show The Proud Family got good news Thursday. Disney confirmed the return of the cartoon that will be called: The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder.
The shows original creators, Ralph Farquhar and Bruce smith, are back in their executive producer roles. In a joint statement, they had this to say:
“In our minds, the show never really went away, as we still had tons of stories left to tell,” further adding, “It’s the perfect time to bring back this show, and we can’t wait to take fans, old and new alike, on this journey with us.”
Additionally, most of the cast from the original series are returning as well. Kayla Pratt will reprise her role as lead character Penny Proud. Tommy Davidson, Paula Jai Parker, and Jo Marie Payton will also return as Penny’s parents, Oscar, and Trudy and Suga Mama, respectively.
Avid fans will also be happy to know that all of Penny’s gang are returning as well. The original actors will also voice Dijony, Zoey, LaCinega, and Uncle Booby.
Proud family is the latest of reboot attempts by Disney. The show was a popular cartoon in the ’00s and had a small cult following. Lizzie Mcguire was briefly brought back to life but was canceled after just two episodes. Disney is introducing the shows on its streaming service Disney+. Original content is a driving factor in the streaming wars, and Disney has that by the boatloads. Netflix has been holding up, yet it remains to be seen if it can withstand Disney creating new content, and rebooting it’s popular old.
