Philadelphia Seeks Clues in Disappearance of 23-Year-Old Kada Scott

Philadelphia police seek 23-year-old Kada Scott, who went missing after leaving for work from her residence on October 4, 2025. Last spotted at 9:45 p.m. on the 8300 block of Rodney Street in East Mount Airy, her elusiveness has put family and authorities in a tizzy, particularly in the aftermath of reports of earlier pestering by the phones, as per the Philadelphia Police Department’s blotter.

Kada Scott is 5 feet 6 inches in height, weighs around 120 pounds, and is of slender build, with brown eyes and black hair. She was an employee of The Terrace at Chestnut Hill, a Philadelphia Chestnut Hill area nursing facility. Her family members portray her as open and bubbly, thus the sudden absence of voice was highly or completely perplexing to them.

Her mother, Kim Matthews, shared her worries in a recent interview with local media.

“This isn’t like her, she’s never left home before? No, not like this,”

Matthews said.

“Her phone been off since Saturday, well, to my lot since Sunday morning, and it’s gone completely right straight to voicemail. So it hasn’t been on since Sunday morning, that I know of.”

Matthews added,

“She wouldn’t just leave and not contact anyone, none of her friends, family, respond back as far as text messages. She’s not on her Instagram, nothing. Where would she go without her car?”

These details were highlighted in coverage by 6abc News.

On October 4, Scott departed from home around 9:45 p.m. on her way to work for the overnight shift. She went to work but left early, said co-workers who witnessed her leaving. Her car was still in the parking area.

By October 5, when she did not return home or answer calls, her family reported her missing. On October 7 and 8, police put out public alerts, with local newswires such as CBS News Philadelphia airing their reports subsequently. No new reports of sightings were forthcoming as of October 9. Investigators located her car and saw no use of her phone, iPad, or iWatch after the disappearance.

Philadelphia Police Captain John Craig labeled the case troublesome, citing no communication and sudden abandonment of the workplace. Neighboring surveillance tapes are being reviewed by detectives, who examine phone records and investigate reports of harassing calls from anonymous callers, reports FOX 29 Philadelphia.

Craig emphasized the need for public tips, noting even small details could help. The harassment angle remains under scrutiny, but no suspects have been named without confirmation.

Cases such as Scott’s also bring into relief continuing gaps in missing persons cases, such as limited online tracking when phones or computers go dark. Across the country, the FBI’s National Crime Information Center recorded 533,936 missing person records in 2024, with roughly 93,447 active by year-end, according to the FBI’s 2024 NCIC statistics report. Young adults, especially females in their early adulthood, such as aged 18-29, tend to experience greater risk, with females under age 21 being a large percentage of reports. Organizations such as NamUs offer a unified database for untenured cases.

Philadelphia reported increased reports of that kind in the year, highlighting the need for community engagement.
