Peter Dinklage Officially Becomes Part of Dexter’s Latest Chapter ‘Dexter: Resurrection’

Dexter enthusiasts, rejoice—Peter Dinklage, iconic for his Emmy-winning role as Tyrion Lannister in Game of Thrones, is officially joining the hotly anticipated sequel series Dexter: Resurrection. The seasoned actor will take on the role of Leon Prater, a billionaire venture capitalist whose external philanthropy hides an internal darkness and malicious agenda. This is a thrilling turn of events for the Dexter franchise, as the show gets ready to continue its legacy of morally complex characters and high-risk psychological suspense.

Dexter: Resurrection picks up exactly where Dexter: New Blood concluded, continuing the saga of Dexter Morgan and his dark past. Michael C. Hall will reprise the legendary role of the infamous blood-spatter analyst-turned-vigilante serial killer. Fans are eager to find out more about what goes down in the new show, particularly with the inclusion of Dinklage’s Leon Prater, who promises to be one of the central villains.

Prater, a rich and powerful venture capitalist, presents himself as a philanthropic and stand-up guy, but there is more to him than meets the eye. The entrance into Dexter’s life promises a lethal game of power, manipulation, and lies. Uma Thurman adds another twist to the mix by also joining the cast as Charley, Prater’s head of security. A Special Ops veteran, Charley is a tenaciously loyal guardian of Prater, looking out for him while perhaps holding secrets of her own.

In addition to the reprisal of Dexter by Hall, several of the franchise’s fan-favorite characters are returning. David Zayas once again plays Angel Batista, the seasoned detective and former Miami Metro Police officer. Jack Alcott returns as Harrison Morgan, Dexter’s estranged son, who is now a central character in the series. James Remar also returns as Harry Morgan, Dexter’s adoptive father and ever-present ghostly conscience.

Behind the scenes, Dexter: Resurrection is bringing back some of the most significant individuals from the original show. Original Dexter showrunner Clyde Phillips returns as an executive producer, along with Michael C. Hall, Scott Reynolds, Tony Hernandez, and Lilly Burns. Marcos Siega, who helmed a slew of episodes of Dexter: New Blood, will direct six episodes of the new season, with Monica Raymund directing the remaining four.

While plot details are largely kept under wraps, sources within the industry suggest that Dexter: Resurrection will take up where Dexter’s actions in New Blood left off, with unforeseen consequences. As Leon Prater enters the scene, Dexter will likely find himself facing off against an adversary unlike any other—an adversary with limitless resources and a hidden ruthless streak.

Rumors also suggest that Charley’s role as Prater’s right-hand woman will be more than security detail. As a former military operative and potential player in Prater’s more covert operations, she could pose a unique danger to Dexter’s own style of justice.

Production on Dexter: Resurrection began in January 2025, with filming taking place in New York. The series will debut in summer 2025 on Paramount+ with Showtime and is one of the most highly anticipated television releases of the year.

This follows the success of Dexter: Original Sin, a prequel series that debuted in December 2024. That series explored Dexter’s early life and was a success even though it had a completely different cast. Another prequel based on the infamous Trinity Killer, played by John Lithgow, is reportedly in development as well.

The news of the addition of Peter Dinklage to the Dexter franchise has already caused a stir on social media. People have been guessing for months now about new villains for Dexter: Resurrection, and the news of Dinklage’s casting has added to the hype. With his history of portraying complicated and morally dubious characters, many believe he will bring a solid presence to the show. Entertainment experts speculate that Dinklage’s addition has the potential to send the show to a new level, drawing in an even larger audience beyond the current Dexter fan base. His casting is also an indication of the show’s dedication to providing top-notch performances and storylines that leave audiences sitting at the edge of their seats.
