Beneficiary: Human Concern International
Mustafa, a friend of Human Concern International for over a decade, has pledged that 100% of the concert’s proceeds will go towards providing humanitarian aid to both Gaza and Sudan. He expressed his gratitude to each artist for their time and effort, noting that none of them hesitated when asked to participate.
The benefit concert, organized by Mustafa, the 2021 Polaris Prize-winning Sudanese-Canadian artist, aims to raise funds for humanitarian aid in Sudan and Gaza.
The event will feature performances from a diverse group of artists including Charlotte Day Wilson, Clairo, Daniel Caesar, Faye Webster, Nick Hakim, Omar Apollo, Stormzy, 070 Shake, 6LACK, comedian Ramy Youssef, Palestinian writer and poet Mohammed el-Kurd, and Mustafa himself. There are also some surprise guests yet to be announced. Tickets for the concert are currently on sale.
Current Crisis in Gaza and Sudan
The announcement of the concert comes at a critical time as the situations in both Gaza and Sudan continue to deteriorate. In Gaza, the aftermath of Israel’s response to Hamas’ surprise attack on October 7 has left entire cities in ruins, with the death toll nearing 20,000. In Sudan, a civil war has been raging since April, resulting in nearly 10,000 civilian deaths and displacing 5.6 million people.

Finally Mustafa’s New Jersey concert will be a light in the dark, trying to give aid where it is so lacking. On January 4 at Newark Symphony Hall, there will be a gathering of talented performers all headed in the same direction.
Proceeds from the concert will be contributed to Human Concern International, an organization which is laboring unsparingly to see that aid reaches affected areas safely.
