NLE Choppa Reunites With Daughter After Custody Battle & CPS Drama

NLE Choppa had this super emotional moment reuniting with his little girl Clover, who’s 5, and it blew up all over social media this week. The guy’s real name is Bryson Lashun Potts, from Memphis, and he posted these sweet pics and clips of him scooping her up in a big hug outside what looks like her school or something. His mom, Angela Potts, shared it on Insta too, with one pic saying “Look at God” over it. Stuff like that just tugs at your heartstrings, right? The posts got tons of views super quick, like tens of thousands, and folks started chatting about how even rappers deal with real family stuff in hip-hop.

It had been a rough four months for Choppa he hadn’t seen Clover since September 9, 2025. The whole mess came from this nasty custody fight with her mom, Mariah. Things got heated when Mariah said Choppa was being neglectful during a studio hangout with Clover. She claimed the kid came back in the same outfit and had some vaginal bleeding for a couple days after. Mariah even dropped screenshots of their texts online to prove her side, talking about bad communication and him missing pickups. She kept saying her main thing was keeping Clover safe, like she’d bolt to the ER if she had to.

Choppa clapped back hard, swearing he did nothing wrong. He tweeted something like,

“IMMA GREAT DAD AND IF I WASNT I WOULDVE BEEN LOST CUSTODY.”

He said the bleeding was just a tiny bit from Clover doing splits you know how kids are always flipping around and that she was never alone or anything. Then CPS jumped in after Mariah reported it. Basically, CPS checks out if a kid’s being hurt or ignored, talking to everyone and looking around the house. They showed up, poked around, and didn’t find squat, so they shut the case with no problems for Choppa.

The big breakthrough happened on January 21, 2026, at a contempt hearing in Memphis court. The judge ruled in Choppa’s favor, saying Mariah broke the rules by keeping him from seeing Clover. They brought up the CPS thing closing clean, and that opened the door for supervised visits again. Choppa was pumped, posting,

“The judge addressed the motion of contempt today and awarded me back possession of my daughter RIGHTFULLY SO.”

His mom backed him up, calling out the “slander” and saying Clover was over the moon, “super happy” to be with her dad.

Online, most people were on his side, hyping him up for stepping up as a dad. Comments were everywhere, like one guy saying we need more “family healing” in all this drama. It spread like wildfire on X and Insta through pages like @mymixtapez, pulling in over 26,000 views on some posts. But not everyone’s buying it some folks sided with Mariah because of her “receipts,” while others pointed to the court decision as proof she was messing with access.

This ain’t Choppa’s first time in the ring with custody stuff. Back in 2025, he had drama with Marissa Da’Nae, mom of his son ChoZen, over similar neglect claims that he shut down. It’s tough for young stars like him, juggling the spotlight, relationships, and being a parent while everyone’s watching. Like his mom said in reports from AllHipHop, some exes use the kids as pawns, which just complicates everything.
