Nicki Minaj Says Jay-Z Owes Her $200 Million—And She’s Done Staying Silent

Nicki Minaj has taken to social media to demand that Jay-Z pay her what she claims is owed for her stake in the music streaming service Tidal. She alleges that she is due millions of dollars following the platform’s sale to Square in 2021.

In a fiery post on X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday, July 8, Minaj escalated her accusations, writing,

“We’ve calculated about 100-200MM so far. #JayZ call me to settle this karmic debt. It’s only collecting more interest. You still in my TOP 5 tho. Let’s get it nigga.”

Most provocatively, she declared,

“anyone still calling him Hov will answer to God for the blasphemy.”

Whether this staggering $100-200 million figure refers solely to her individual stake or a collective amount owed to multiple parties remains unclear.

Minaj didn’t just stop at accusations—she outlined a vision for the alleged funds.

“I’m going to use some of the money #JayZ owes me to send some of my Barbz to college, pay their school fees & student loans via my #StudentOfTheGame charity,”

She posted.

When Tidal launched in 2015, it was backed by fifteen high-profile artists—including Minaj, Beyoncé, Rihanna, J. Cole, and Ye—each reportedly receiving a 3% equity stake in the company, then valued at $56 million. In 2021, the platform was acquired by Square, a company owned by Jack Dorsey, for $302 million. Minaj and the other celebrity owners reportedly retained their stakes after the sale. However, Minaj claims she was offered only $1 million for her share, far below the approximately $9 million she believes she is entitled to, which would reflect 3% of the $302 million sale price.

Minaj’s intention to channel the disputed funds into her charitable initiative, #StudentOfTheGame, adds to the public interest. The charity aims to alleviate the financial burdens of her fans by covering educational expenses such as tuition and student loans. This philanthropic angle has resonated with many, framing the financial dispute as part of a broader effort to give back to her loyal fan base.

The claim also comes amid existing tensions between Minaj and Jay-Z. Recently, Minaj criticized Jay-Z’s involvement in the NFL’s 2025 Super Bowl Halftime Show, voicing her support for Lil Wayne in a remix of his track “Banned From NO.” This public stance has added a layer of personal and professional rivalry to the ongoing financial disagreement.

No official response from Jay-Z or Roc Nation has been reported, leaving Minaj’s allegations to dominate the conversation online.

The silence has fueled speculation, with some fans and media outlets calling for transparency regarding artist payouts from the TIDAL sale. The lack of an official statement leaves the situation unresolved, and further developments are anticipated.
