Nicki Minaj, the queen of rap, was accused of getting arrested near an Amsterdam airport on May 25, 2024, by the Dutch National Police.
The incident kicked off when Minaj started streaming live from the Amsterdam airport on Instagram. The video shows Minaj pointing her smartphone camera at a member of the Royal Netherlands Marechaussee, who told her she is being arrested for “carrying drugs“. It happened just a few hours after Minaj shared a video on Instagram in which an airline staff member informed her that all her belongings and gear would have to pass through a search operation.
Minaj currently is on her Pink Friday 2 World Tour. She was en route to Manchester, England — where she was set to perform on tour — when the incident unfolded.
Minaj continued to tweet throughout the ordeal, typing, apparently in reference to the “carrying drugs” allegation,
"They took my luggage & when I asked where it is they said it’s on the plane. It couldn’t have been, I just pulled up,"
she said on X.
"This is Amsterdam btw, where w**d is legal."
"Now they said they found w**d & that another group of ppl have to come here to weigh the pre-rolls."
"Keep in mind they took my bags without consent. My security has already advised them those pre-rolls belong to him. Oh yea & the pilot wants me to take my ig post down."
She also claimed that this had been done to sabotage her tour.
The Amsterdam Police claimed they were taking Nicki Minaj to the police precinct to give a statement! But this Police officer is now saying that they are arresting her for pre rolls her SECURITY had! (It’s legal to have marijuana in Amsterdam)

A spokesperson for the Marechaussee told NL Times that a 41-year-old American woman has been taken into custody for possession of soft drugs at a Schiphol-Oost private airfield. The woman was found in possession of drugs and taken into custody at around 5:30 p.m.
As of now, it’s unclear if Nicki will face charges or if her Manchester show will be lit (or cancelled). Doors are set to open at exactly 7:00 PM local time — so, the venue’s still hoping she’ll make it in time.
