A 45-year-old Oakland man, Jamal Reed-Obafumi, was arrested last week for allegedly stealing approximately $10,000 worth of Nintendo Switch video games from multiple public libraries across Northern California. The arrest, which took place on June 17, 2025, followed a months-long investigation into a series of library burglaries that occurred between April and June of this year.
Reed-Obafumi, who now faces 12 felony charges—including multiple counts of burglary and committing a felony while out on bail—was booked into the Marin County Jail but has since been released on bond, according to jail records.
