Leron Rogers Honored By The National Bar Association With Entertainment Attorney of the Year Award

Leron E. Rogers, an influential figure in Hollywood’s legal field, received the prestigious title of Entertainment Attorney of the Year from the National Bar Association. This association, which comprises predominantly African-American attorneys and judges, recognized Rogers for his outstanding contributions.

Listed among the nation’s top music lawyers by Billboard Magazine and top deal makers by Variety Magazine, Leron Rogers is the legal equivalent of a triple threat – a broker of continued success for superstars, a game-changing litigator and leader in the legal profession and the community. Leron E. Rogers, a partner at the national law firm of Fox Rothschild LLP, specializes in Entertainment & Sports Law. He has successfully negotiated multimillion-dollar deals for renowned figures in the music and entertainment industry, including Rick Ross, Kanye West, Coco Jones, YFN Lucci, Abou “Bu” Thiam, and Druski. Leron has also played a key role in securing significant agreements with notable companies like Cookies, Rap Snacks, Jet Docs, and Bumbu Rum.

Also a skilled litigator, Leron has defended power players such as Universal Music Group (UMG) and Def Jam against multiple lawsuits, and won an industry-shaping case in the U.S. Second Circuit Court of Appeals in January 2021 for client Rick Ross, who was sued by 50 Cent for using “In Da Club” on a mixtape. The win set a key precedent, allowing creators to sample music without permission on projects they aren’t profiting from.
Leron also serves as Chairman of the Board of the Black Entertainment and Sports Lawyers Association (BESLA).

BESLA, the largest professional organization of attorneys and executives in sports and entertainment, is a nonprofit that brings together legal and business professionals. Their mission is to provide access to industry influencers and innovators through top-notch legal education, professional development, and networking opportunities in entertainment, sports, new media, and related fields. This year, BESLA held its 2022 Annual Conference in Cancun, Mexico. The conference featured informative panels, enjoyable receptions, and an awards program to recognize outstanding individuals. Tichina Arnold was honored with the Beacon of Industry Award, and Derrick “D-Nice” Jones received the Black Excellence Award.

Outside of his philanthropy work through BESLA, Leron serves as Co-Chair of the Music Industry Relations Collective at the National Museum of African American Music, and former Chair of the Entertainment division of the State Bar of Georgia’s Entertainment and Sports Law Section. He is also a member of 100 Black Men of Atlanta – a powerful advocacy group working to expand educational and economic opportunities for the city’s African-American youth.
