A livestream scavenger hunt took a dangerous turn in Austin when Kick streamer XenaTheWitch, whose real name is Amaris (Amira) Sampson, allegedly shot an uninvolved woman in the thigh with a paintball gun. The incident was captured live and has now led to Sampson’s arrest and serious legal trouble.
The shooting happened on August 9, 2025, near South Lakeshore Boulevard along the Ann and Roy Butler Hike-and-Bike Trail during a $30,000 scavenger hunt organized by fellow streamer Paul “Ice Poseidon” Denino.
According to reports, the victim — a woman who was not participating in the event and was without any protective gear — was struck in the thigh by a paintball. In video clips shared online, the woman can be heard confirming the injury while others nearby identified Sampson as the shooter. The bystander described the shot as painful and said she intended to pursue accountability for the incident.
Witnesses captured tense moments immediately after the shooting, with one person saying, “Adriana! That’s a real worker you almost shot at… Where did she shoot you? In the thigh. Do you know who it was? Yeah… Amira Sampson. She’s the one who shot you.”
The victim went on to identify the shooter by name:
“Do you know who it was? Yeah, I just wanted to get the evidence because I will… I can, um… Yeah, Amira Samson. She’s the one who shot you.”
As the situation escalated, others tried to intervene. One participant can be heard asking Sampson directly:
“Are you okay? Do you need me to do anything, Xena? Xena, do you need a lawyer or something?”
Sampson responded, “I have a lawyer.”
Authorities issued a warrant for Sampson following the incident, and she was arrested on August 13, 2025, before being booked into Travis County Jail. She faces charges of assault causing bodily injury and deadly conduct — both Class A misdemeanors in Texas.
If convicted, Sampson could face up to several years in jail and a fine of up to $10,000, though misdemeanor charges typically carry a maximum penalty of one year behind bars per offense. Her bond and initial court appearance were expected within 24 hours of her arrest.
Sampson’s Kick account, which had more than 37,000 followers, was permanently banned — listed as a 999-year suspension, effectively a lifetime ban. Kick also deleted her profile entirely in response to public backlash.
The incident has sparked widespread criticism online, with many condemning the act as reckless and emblematic of unsafe stunts performed for online clout. Viewers and fellow creators voiced concerns about public safety, warning that dangerous livestream antics could escalate further.
Sampson was already known for controversial behavior during streams, with critics pointing to a history of boundary-pushing stunts that often blurred the line between entertainment and public endangerment.
