Jeff Bezos Blue Origin Rocket to Launch with Katy Perry

Global music icon Katy Perry will be embarking on a historic space trip. She will be a member of Blue Origin’s first all-female space team on a suborbital flight, NS-31, which will take off in the spring of 2025 from Blue Origin’s West Texas launchpad. The historic flight is a space travel milestone in that it will be the first all-female space team in space travel history since Soviet cosmonaut Valentina Tereshkova made a single-person orbit in 1963.

NS-31 is a great step in commercial space travel, particularly in terms of promoting diversity and inclusion. The female-only crew, captained by award-winning journalist Lauren Sánchez, will be in space experiencing weightlessness as much as gazing at Earth from space. The mission is intended to inspire a new generation of space explorers, targeting women in science, tech, engineering, and maths (STEM) fields.

Popular pop star Katy Perry will be making space travel history as the first pop star in space. In expressing her enthusiasm, Perry told that she is “grateful to be a member on Blue Origin’s all-female crew. I am hoping that my trip will inspire my daughter as well as others to shoot stars—literally as well as metaphorically.”

    Meet The Team

Mission NS-31 brings a talented team of women with a broad range of professional experiences:

Katy Perry – Grammy award-winning pop sensation and pop culture icon, shifting her gaze towards space travel.

Lauren Sánchez – award-winning journalist, experienced aviator, and mission leader, currently a Bezos Earth Fund vice chair.

Aisha Bowe – Ex-NASA rocket scientist and STEMBoard CEO, passionate about enhancing STEM education.

Gayle King – Respected broadcaster and co-host on CBS Mornings, whose background in media will be a valuable addition. Amanda Nguyen – Bioastronautics research scientist and activist, advocating human rights as well as advancement in science.

Kerianne Flynn – seasoned film maker, giving her narrative talents in capturing this significant event.

This is not merely a single space trip; it is a resounding statement about women in space travel. Blue Origin’s effort is a testament to its commitment towards making space more diverse as a way of inspiring women across the world to take science, engineering, and space technologies as a profession.

Lauren Sánchez reiterated why the mission is crucial by stating,

“This is not about space travel; it is about empowering women to break barriers. Our stories will inspire generations to come.”

The participation of high-profile women such as Perry and King also lends more credence to that mission, making its message available in its entirety in the US, UK, Canada, Australia, and more.

Blue Origin’s increased involvement in commercial space travel represents a new beginning in which private expeditions increasingly shape humanity’s space existence. The mission signifies that space travel is becoming a new norm not just for space explorers and scientists but also for common human beings.
