Jake Paul Joins President Donald Trump Aboard Air Force One En Route to Ohio Rally

Footage from Joint Base Andrews in Maryland on Monday afternoon captured the moment clearly. President Donald Trump stepped off Marine One to salutes from Marines in dress uniforms. Walking alongside him across the tarmac, wearing a black suit and a red “America Is Back” cap, was professional boxer and social media personality Jake Paul. Former NFL coach Jon Gruden was also in the group. They boarded Air Force One together for the short flight to Youngstown, Ohio.

The trip was no mystery. Trump was heading to a midterm campaign rally at the Covelli Centre to boost Republican candidates ahead of the November 3 elections, including Sen. Jon Husted and gubernatorial hopeful Vivek Ramaswamy. Paul, a Cleveland native, and Gruden, from Sandusky, both Ohio sons, joined as high-profile supporters. White House travel-pool reports, Associated Press photos, PBS NewsHour coverage, and Fox News video all confirmed the departure and the passengers.

At the rally, Trump brought Paul onstage.

“It’s good to be home,”

Paul told the crowd.

“I grew up about an hour from here in Cleveland.”

He noted his mother was in the audience and then turned to protesters interrupting the event.

“I get confused by the left, the protesters,”

He said.

“Do they not have jobs? All they do is carry signs around while we’re doing the work.”

He continued with lines about

“Twitter fingers” that “never built the country” and the “woke socialist movement,” then led “USA” chants and urged votes on November 3 “to keep control.” Trump later called the remarks “very good” but joked he “didn’t know exactly what the hell he was going to say.”

Paul’s presence fits a pattern. The YouTuber-turned-boxer has moved deeper into political circles after building a massive online following and a professional boxing career under Most Valuable Promotions. In March 2026 at a Kentucky event, Trump publicly predicted Paul would run for office “in the not-too-distant future” and offered his “complete and total endorsement.” Paul has said he wants to get more involved in politics to “create change,” but he has not announced a candidacy or received any government role.

This is relevant to see how the influence of audiences and celebrity culture is now firmly embedded within the context of midterm politics. The popularity of Paul among his young followers along with his Ohio origins made him a perfect candidate to serve as a surrogate for a state in competition. His confirmed visit and performance are quite easy to understand.
