In a recent interview, J. Prince, a powerhouse in music and boxing, has claimed he saved the legendary boxer’s life by teaching him how to dodge danger in Las Vegas. The music mogul and manager says Mayweather faced serious threats from street gangs, and without his guidance, the champ might not have made it through.
J. Prince, best known as the CEO of Rap-A-Lot Records, has long been a key figure in hip-hop and sports. He managed Mayweather early in his career, building a bond that went beyond the boxing ring.
In a recent sit-down on ALL THE SMOKE FIGHT YouTube channel, Prince dropped a bombshell about his role in keeping Mayweather safe. He painted a picture of Las Vegas as a risky “melting pot” where fame could turn deadly fast.
“I really believe if he hadn’t learned certain things, it would have killed him out here in Vegas,”
Prince said. He pointed to Mayweather’s flashy lifestyle, like carrying stacks of cash and sporting pricey jewelry, as a magnet for trouble.
“The way he moved. Yeah, because Vegas is a melting pot. Yeah, and it’s an art to knowing how to move and the calculation and the thoughts and different things that go into moving,”
He added.
According to Prince, Mayweather had “a lot of street gang enemies” in the city.
“He had a lot of enemies here in Vegas. A lot of street gang enemies out here in Vegas,”
He recalled. At first, the boxer was too reckless, leaving himself open to attack. Prince stepped in, using his street smarts and connections to calm tensions.
“I feel like I contributed to making peace with them and also teaching him how to move where it wouldn’t be as attractive for one to try and do something to you because they know consequences were coming afterward,”
He explained.
Mayweather’s life in Las Vegas only added to the stakes. He owns a massive $10 million mansion there and runs businesses like the Girl Collection strip club. That kind of high-profile presence made him a walking target. He relied on a hefty security crew, nicknamed “The Money Team,” with bodyguards earning big to keep threats at bay. One report even pegged their combined weight at nearly 1,500 pounds, showing the protection’s seriousness.
