Iggy Azalea didn’t hold back during a recent Twitch livestream with streamer Amouranth, where she dropped a bombshell about her estranged relationship with Playboi Carti. When a fan asked her to urge Carti to release his highly anticipated album, I Am Music, Iggy’s frustration was clear.
“We haven’t heard from that man in over six months,”
she said.
“We don’t know or care.”
Her blunt response instantly became a hot topic, shedding light on the tension between the co-parents of three-year-old Onyx. Iggy went on to clarify that she has no contact with Playboi Carti, adding,
“I don’t speak to him, my love. We have no association.”
The revelation struck a nerve with fans, especially since this isn’t the first time Iggy has opened up about Carti’s absence. The pair, who started dating in 2018, split in late 2020 after the birth of their son. Since then, Iggy has repeatedly taken on the role of a single mom, often calling out Carti for being uninvolved in Onyx’s life.
Social media reactions came in fast, with many praising Iggy for her honesty while criticizing Carti for being absent as both a father and an artist.
“Six months without seeing your kid? That’s not okay,”
one fan tweeted. Another wrote,
“Carti’s mysterious persona is getting old—his priorities are way off.”
Not everyone sided with Iggy, though. Some questioned whether airing personal issues on a livestream was the right move.
“This could have stayed private,”
one critic argued. Still, the majority of fans seemed to empathize with her, especially as she’s been candid about balancing parenthood and her career on her own.
Iggy and Carti’s relationship has always been rocky. After welcoming Onyx in June 2020, their romance unraveled amid accusations of infidelity and a lack of support from Carti. By the end of that year, Iggy made it clear that she was raising Onyx solo, sharing details about Carti skipping important moments, including their son’s birth.
Her comments about their strained dynamic also reignited discussions about I Am Music, the long-delayed album fans have been waiting for since Carti’s 2020 release, Whole Lotta Red. While his absence from Onyx’s life is a personal issue, fans were quick to draw parallels between his silence as a father and as an artist.
