Gervais’s Golden Globes Monologue Called Out Hollywood

    Gervais Delivers Another Great Monologue

Somehow Ricky Gervais was selected to host the Golden Globes for a fifth time, and I’m quite glad it happened. Just as expected Gervais was able to deliver some great jokes. Gervais’s Goldwn Globes monologue called out Hollywood. Some people were offended by his comments, but I would suggest that they ligten up.

Gervais Calls Out Hollywood In Golden Globe’s Monologue

Ricky Gervais is known for not holding back when it comes to his content. Even though Gervais was telling jokes all of what he said was pretty much rooted in truth. At the beginning of his speech, Gervais points out the unfortunate and messed up the fact that many talented actors of color once again were snubbed in major categories. This is followed by Gervais saying that this is due to the Hollywood Foreign Press all being very racist.

At this point, Gervais was blatantly calling out the very organization whose very event he was at. Other pressing topics that Gervais brought to light throughout his monologue include allegations of sexual abuse against film producers as well as the fact that many of the people in the room work for unethical companies. These companies include Apple, Amazon, and Disney. Gervais goes to say that if ISIS started a steaming service, everyone, in the room would call their agent.

    The Crowd Had Mixed Reactions

Gervais’s Golden Globes monologue called out Hollywood. Because of this, certain jokes did not receive the best reaction from the crowd. But that was one of the best parts of the entire monologue in itself.

Tom Hanks and Adam Driver’s Reactions To Gervais’s Speech

During his speech, Gervais jokes about Jeffrey Epstein’s death to which the crowd does not seem too pleased. Gervais responds with “Shut up, I know he’s your friend I don’t care”. Tom Hanks did not seem to appreciate this joke or much of the monologue at all. But actors such as Adam Driver had much better reactions to Gervais’s jokes.

    Final Thoughts

Overall Ricky Gervais’s Golden Globe opening monologue was both entertaining and truthful. Gervais did not hold back on calling out the tv and film industry. All of his jokes were aimed at the people in the room and who they worked with. This might of been offensive to some, but personally I found it to be pretty funny.

What do you guys think about the fact that Gervais’s Golden Globes monologue called out Hollywood? Did Gervais go too far? Or is this the type of speech you would prefer to see at award shows?
