Fans of Lana Del Rey already know that the ethereal singer-songwriter has married Jeremy Dufrene, a Louisiana alligator tour guide. The surprise wedding from the songstress has left her fans abuzz, but perhaps the most surprising reaction came from Jeremy’s ex-fiancée, Kelli Welsh.
Kelli, who was engaged to Jeremy for over 12 years, commented on the surprise marriage, ranging from shock to congratulations.
“I was in shock when I found out,”
Kelli, whose tone showed the kind of person who never saw it coming, finally admitted. The pair had broken up in October 2023 after being together for over a decade, but Kelli was quick to insist that she holds no resentment.
“Jeremy deserves this blessing,”
she said graciously. Though the wedding came rather suddenly, Kelli is convinced that Jeremy really feels happy with Lana:
“He is a very caring, industrious, manly man. His capacity to Love and take care of people had always been his attractive point,”
she reminisced. Jeremy and Lana’s whirlwind romance only just begun, but their connection goes back as far as 2019, when the two met on one of the many airboat tours he ran in Louisiana. Lana had come into Louisiana to attend a music festival and happened to find herself utterly fascinated with the local swamps and tour guide who could maneuver them with such finesse. Although they didn’t reconnect until 2024, it wasn’t long before sparks flew, and they went from casual to married all in the span of a single month after making their relationship public.
The intimate ceremony took place in Des Allemands, Louisiana, a secluded area near the bayou where Jeremy spends much of his time. Lana, 39, resembled something out of angel heaven as she went down the aisle with her father, Robert Grant, in a flowy white gown amidst intimate family and buddies, as Jeremy opted for the dark suit and brown leather shoes, giving the day a bayou feel.
Quite a low-key yet so romantic wedding, the two did not move too far away from the local culture that quite evidently runs in Jeremy’s veins. For Kelli, who has shared countless memories with Jeremy throughout the years, the wedding is bittersweet.
More than a decade into their relationship, Kelli still recalls how stable and giving Jeremy had been.
“He’s always been a giver, and to have someone to give to him now-he deserves it,”
she said, offering words of kindness to both him and Lana. The wedding has been received quite surprisingly by the public, especially in view of the very short time separating Jeremy’s breakup and his new relationship.
Surprisingly enough, however, Kelli takes a very supportive stance: where there might be bitterness, grace was shown instead.
“It’s not a fake happy-he truly is in love with her,”
Kelli confirmed that acknowledging this new chapter for Jeremy is probably a good thing.
“He was used to bayou life and being out on the swamp. I think he needed to get out of his comfort zone.”
Kelli, who has moved on with her life since then, says she is still proud of the man with whom she had once planned to spend the rest of her life. Though her heart remains broken from their breakup, she made clear that she still cares deeply for Jeremy “as a friend.” An unexpectedly happy Kelli seemed genuinely pleased that her ex has finally found someone who brings him joy, even if the situation isn’t exactly what she had in mind.
“They do look happy together,”
Kelli said calmly as if she’s already made peace with the fact that their paths had diverged.
