Em sported a Detroit Lions jersey with Marshall Mathers on the back, a clear nod to his local roots. The pair collaborated on many tracks already. Despite many fans begging Eminem to stop collaborating with the same pop singers he used to make fun of. The two performed the 2000 classic “Stan” in which the English singer took over for Dido on the chorus.
The pair have a long history of working together and are long time friends for years. Sheeran opened the concert with an acoustic guitar cover of Eminem’s Lose Yourself. The crowd at Ford Field went wild as he and his band nailed the performance. He then jokingly told fans that his band had only practiced the song earlier in the day, saying, “Let’s see how this goes.”
As soon as Sheeran was finished singing the verses of the song, a hooded figure appeared behind the stage. The 50-year-old rapper then joined Sheeran to perform the full track. As they sang, the duo embraced each other onstage and Sheeran shouted out to the crowd that they loved them.
This was a highlight of Sheeran’s two-hour-plus performance in the Motor City and just one of many memorable moments during the stop on his US tour He also gave a heartfelt speech about his love and appreciation for the city, pointing out that he used to go to Eminem’s Mom’s Spaghetti restaurant downtown
They teamed up on multiple tracks. Including Sheeran’s acoustic version of his 2016 smash hit River and a collaboration with Italian diva Andrea Bocelli on the song Perfect Symphony The duo’s Detroit performance comes as Sheeran continues his US tour, which will end in Los Angeles this September Hopefully, the pair will be able to team up again for future concerts and keep bringing the magic to fans across America.
