Drake Turns Big Wins Into Big Buzz in New Stake Commercial

Drake is in the news, and this time, music is not involved. For this one, the superstar rapper turned his recent big gambling wins into big buzz with a new commercial for the online betting platform Stake. In this promotional video, one big win from Drake shows a $2 million take-home from a recent NFL bet.

The ad, part of Stake’s “Playing Stake In Quiet Places” series, features Drake celebrating in serene settings and, all the time, begging for silence when he is on his game.

In the ad, Drake has a humorous talk with his son Adonis, who asks him, “Daddy, why do we have so much money?” Drake humorously replied, “Because I never gave up,” insinuating that his success at gambling is primary.”

The commercial is filled with visuals of Drake’s luxurious lifestyle, including his private jet and high-end cars, while also showcasing moments of him winning at gambling.

The stake of Drake is estimated at close to 180 million dollars and is pretty major. He has been one of the most outspoken users on the site since he joined in December 2021. The world’s been treated to glimpses of his outlandish bets, ranging from 354,000 to a cool $7 million on one roulette spin! This partnership works just right for Drake’s brand, merging his celebrity with a narrative that really showcases how well he’s done for himself financially.

The commercial isn’t just about Stake; it’s also to show Drake’s life, living it-plush and successful. The visuals of private jets to luxury cars further seal the deal for his image as a successful entrepreneur amidst continuous struggles within the music industry.

This new partnership by Drake with Stake represents a broader trend in which celebrities use their influence to make lucrative deals. An initial deal he had signed with Stake was valued at close to $100 million and has since overgrown. This financial relationship shows how strategic Drake has been with brand endorsements and as an entrepreneur. He is worth hundreds of millions of dollars, given different investments and other business ventures aside from music, such as his clothing line, OVO, among others.

The ad has polarized viewers online, with some fans enjoying the humor and richness of the video and others decrying the commercial as an attempt to push gambling to a younger audience. Blurring personal stories with commercial messages does beg broader questions about the responsibility of celebrity endorsements for potentially addictive activities like gaming.

Public discussion about Drake will also often veer to touch on his frequent public controversies and feuds within the music industry, adding layering to his public persona. Some critics have called parts of the ad “corny,” especially the dialogue between Drake and Adonis. The ad has been criticized for oversimplifying complex issues about wealth and success while putting a positive spin on gambling. And that brings up some important questions about the responsibility of celebrities when it comes to endorsing activities that can be harmful.

The partnership between Drake and Stake has grown far beyond its humble beginnings. He first revealed the partnership on his Instagram back in March of 2022, stating that the move was “inevitable.” In recent times, Stake and Drake have launched a live-stream series where fans can watch him gamble and even sometimes interact with him. Events so far include being able to game alongside him and winning some of the wins that Drake pulls in.

In fact, it is reported that Drake has made huge bets through Stake, reportedly exceeding $1 billion since he started using the platform.

In 2024, Drake bet $500,000 on the Edmonton Oilers in the Stanley Cup Finals, another high-profile extension of his still-ongoing promotional activities for Stake, which helped raise its profile in North America while the regulatory challenges mount in Canada over online sports betting.

Community engagement has been part of the partnership talk for both Drake and Stake throughout their partnership, with the former once stating how he’d like to give back to his followers with winnings from live events. According to Lucy Harris, iGaming Specialist at Casino-Bonus Club, since its partnership with Drake, Stake has grown into one of the biggest gambling platforms in the world. Gross gaming revenues have gone from about $105 million in 2020 to almost $2.6 billion in 2022, with high-profile partnerships and aggressive marketing credited for the increase.

There is little question that Drake, as a cultural icon, has influenced the Stake brand to a younger audience increasingly involved in online gambling and cryptocurrency markets. Outside of this deal with Stake, Drake has been part of many high-profile collaborations over the years. He and Hocking have teamed up to work on a luxury champagne brand called Mod Sélection, while Drake invested in the vegan meat company Daring Foods Inc.
