DJ Envy was born in Queens, New York on 3 September 1977 and grew up there. He began his career as a DJ at a very young age, and was mentored by DJ Clue. He quickly established himself as a DJ in the mixtape industry.
He became famous for premiering exclusive freestyles by artists like Jay-Z, 50 Cent and the L.O.X in the early 2000s. He was later signed to DJ Clue’s label Desert Storm Records.
During Tuesday’s broadcast of The Breakfast Club, DJ Envy revealed that he lost $250,000 in jewelry while traveling this weekend. He sadly told his audience that he lost a bust-down Rolex, a ring and chains engraved with the names of his wife and kids.
The Queens-bred radio host said that he places his luxury jewels in his carry-on whenever he travels and that a TSA agent decided to search his bag this time. He revealed that he had insurance on the jewelry and that he was still trying to get back the pieces.
He and his wife, Gia Casey, are parents to six children. He tries to play the role of a father to his best ability. He even gifted his son Logan a custom-colored Chevrolet Corvette Stingray convertible for his 17th birthday.
