Dallas Cowboys Dak Prescott Issues Apology For His Comments

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott apologized earlier this week via Twitter for his postgame comments. Due to the controversial ending in Dallas, it left many people angry. According to sources, fans threw trash and debris at the officials after Sunday’s crazy ending.

Understandably, Prescott was extremely emotional after the disappointing loss to the San Francisco 49ers. During the postgame interview, Prescott was told the fans were throwing trash that hit his teammates, to which he responds, “sad”. However, when he was later told the trash was directed at the officials, he responded, “Credit to them then. Credit to them”.

Prescott had ample opportunity to walk these comments back, yet, he did not.

Prescott’s apology to the Dallas Cowboys and the world

Earlier this week, he tweeted an apology regarding his distasteful comments. He wrote:

“I’m sorry for the comments I made about the officials after the game on Sunday. I was upset about the loss and my words were unnecessary and unfair.

“We have great respect for the NFL Officials and acknowledge the professionalism and challenges of their roles. The safety of everyone involved in a game or sports event is of utmost importance.

“That was a mistake on my behalf, and I am sorry.”

    Prescott’s actions affected many

This behavior is very unlike Prescott, which is why it comes as shock by so many people. In fact, he’s a finalist for the NFL’s Walter Payton Man of the Year Award. After his comments, many officials felt offended. Prescott received tons of criticism from fans on social media and the NBA Referees Association.

The NBA referee association spoke out against the encouraging harmful words of Prescott.
“The NBRA strongly opposes Dak Prescott’s comments supporting violence towards game officials. As an NFL leader, he should be aware of the consequences. We urge the NFL to discourage such unacceptable behavior in the future.”
A member of the Cowboy front office was a bit disappointed himself. The Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones condemned and spoke out against the actions of the fans.

“That’s really unfortunate,” Jones expressed. “That’s not how I perceive our fans. I believe we have a classy reputation, and there’s no room for such behavior.”Angered fans, it’s understandable. However, I don’t understand throwing things onto the field where people could get injured. There’s just no place for that.”
