New Swine Virus Found in China
The CDC recently announced that it is preparing to take action against a new flu strain in China. The virus has been spreading among pigs in China since 2016. A report released by the Proceedings of the National Academy of Science this past June has shown a spike in the spread of the disease.
Details of the Flu Strain in China
The new flu strain is a virus mainly found in pigs. The report released by the Proceedings of the National Academy of Science revealed that 10% of swine workers in China had evidence of previously contracting the disease. Thankfully there have yet to be any reports of the virus spreading from person-to-person.
The above study has shown that the swine flu has been spreading at a higher rate than expected though. Give this article a read to see what the CDC is doing in efforts with China to fight the spread of this disease.
Final Thoughts
This virus has yet to do any real damage, so hopefully the CDC has caught it early enough to stop it from becoming anything worse.
