Cardi B in Yet Another Heated Altercation
The incident occurred during Cardi’s performance of her hit song “Bodak Yellow” at Drai’s Beachclub in Las Vegas on Saturday (July 29) and was captured on video. The Bronx native performed her breakout song when an unidentified audience member raised a white, decorated cup and tossed the liquid directly in her direction. A startled Cardi immediately swung her microphone at the person in front of her, and security guards then appeared to escort them away from the stage
A rep for the rapper did not respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment. Musicians in recent months continue to deal with rowdy fans during their performance. For example, Bebe Rexha needed stitches after getting hit in the eye with a phone at a concert.
Country singer Kelsea Ballerini had to stop a show after getting hit in the face by a bracelet during a show. Drake has also been the victim of unwanted items thrown at him onstage, and Harry Styles with a baby bottle. Luckily, the incident didn’t escalate. Cardi continued with her set despite the interruption.
Though there is a worrying trend in the music concert scene. Many artists, including Cardi, go under fire with everything from phones to sex toys during their performances. It is unclear whether the woman who threw Cardi’s drink will face charges. She reportedly wants to press charges against Cardi and filed a police report.
