Cardi B has officially made history, blending music, technology, and marketing into one record-breaking moment. On the release day of her sophomore album AM I THE DRAMA?, the Grammy-winning rapper teamed up with Walmart, Wing Drone Delivery, and Atlantic Records to set a Guinness World Record for the most drone deliveries in one hour.
Guinness World Records executive Kylie Galloway said the campaign completed 176 drone deliveries between 8 a.m. and 11 a.m. Central Time on September 19 across the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. Fans who signed up for the promotion received signed CDs of Cardi B’s album, delivered directly to their doorsteps via unmanned aerial vehicles.
The drones flew out of 18 Walmart locations, tapping into Wing’s established regional infrastructure. Operating under FAA guidelines, they traveled beyond the Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) within a six-mile radius, cruising at speeds of up to 65 mph and gently lowering packages onto customers’ lawns.
Walmart and Wing have been running drone deliveries in North Texas since 2023, with thousands of weekly orders fulfilled in under 19 minutes on average. This time, however, the logistics network was used not for groceries or household items but for a music release — a first in the entertainment industry.
Cardi B’s Long-Awaited Return
AM I THE DRAMA? marks Cardi B’s first full-length album in seven years, following her 2018 debut Invasion of Privacy. The 23-track project includes collaborations with Megan Thee Stallion, Summer Walker, Selena Gomez, Kehlani, Lizzo, Janet Jackson, Tyla, and more.
The album immediately impacted: it went platinum on release day, topped iTunes sales charts, and drew praise from critics. Rolling Stone called it a “tingly return for a queen who never left the throne.”
Innovation in Music Promotion
While the drones drew the most attention, Cardi B’s rollout strategy combined futuristic and old-school tactics. Alongside the high-tech delivery stunt, she took to New York City streets for sidewalk CD sales and even performed in subway stations — nods to grassroots promotion with a modern twist.
The innovative campaign has sparked conversation about the future of music marketing. By fusing aviation technology with album distribution, Cardi B grabbed headlines and set a new industry benchmark.
The campaign’s success comes as Wing and Walmart prepare to expand their drone delivery services to 100 additional stores across five cities: Atlanta, Charlotte, Houston, Orlando, and Tampa. With this expansion, millions more customers may soon experience drone-based product deliveries — and possibly, more creative marketing collaborations.
Cardi is basking in her double victory: a platinum-selling comeback album and a Guinness World Record, proving once again that when it comes to being “the drama,” she’s in a league of her own.

Projections surged upward mid-week as buzz exploded, with Hits Daily Double revising estimates from initial lows to affirm her as the “queen” of platforms like Apple Music in the U.S. Tracks like the lead single “Outside” alone crossed 500,000 units without a visual, while reworks of hits like “WAP” and “Up” (boasting over 2 billion combined streams) injected instant replay value, blending fresh cuts with proven anthems to secure the biggest first-week debut for a female rap album this year. This isn’t just numbers—it’s a masterclass in longevity, with the album’s explosive, expensive production (coined as a throwback to rap’s opulent ’10s era) fueling viral moments and positioning Cardi as the genre’s top earner, including her earlier record for the highest-grossing female rap tour ever.
